1st of all, please do not tell me about my bad computer. I have tried MF7 on 5 computers, one recently built by myself, one built last year, and a new laptop. This is the list:
I7 processor, WIN 7, BluRay burner
P4 processor, WIN XP PRO, DVD burner
Core Du Intel, Vista, DVD burner
I3 Processor, W7, just purchased laptop
I3 processor, XP Pro, BluRay burner (just built)
I am focusin on using the I3, as I have had modest success:
Intel Core I3
ASUS P7P55D-ELX
WINDOWS XP-PRO
4 GB Patriot PC3-10666 RAM
Kingston 120 GB SSD (WIN/pgms) SATA2
Seagate 1TB ST31000528AS Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA3
WDC 500 GB WD5000AAKS Blue Caviar SATA2
LG B412LS38 BR SATA
Inland PS 600Watt
Antec 300 Case
XFX Radeon HD5450 Video Card
VANTEX UGT-CR905 card reader
Corel seems to be unwilling, but to believe every computer I can find is defective, not the software. Unfortunately, if it worked, W7 would be the best software for presenting slides on any TV.
Here are my basic problems:
1) I cannot burn a DVD directly from the program. I can only produce a DVD by first creating a disc image, then burning. This seems to be a universal problem. As BluRay is the only way to go, it bothers me little.
2) I cannot burn a BluRay disc with the I7 computer.
3) I cannot fully apply Service Pack #2 to the I7 computer. I get an error message saying something about a missing dll, but it does continue.
4) If I apply Service Packs #1 and #2, I cannot produce a disc image for a DVD, nor burn a BluRay. The program becomes unusable. I get an error saying "unknown error" or some similar nonesense some time after I click on burn. Fortunately, REVO will comletely uninstall the MF 7 and allow me to reload it and its "Content Pack."
5) If I apply Service Packs #1 and #2 to any of the five computers, I cannot produce a disc image for a DVD, nor burn a BluRay. The program becomes unusable. I get an error saying "unknown error" or some similar nonesense some time after I click on burn. Fortunately, REVO will comletely uninstall the MF 7 and allow me to reload it and its "Content Pack."
6) I have been able to successfully burn BluRays with the newly-built I3 with WIN XP-PRO. In fact, it is the only computer on which I have ever burned directly from the program. I cannot burn a DVD directly, but I can burn a BluRay.
7) If I try to add audio, the same audio I used to burnt DVDs with Ulead & Corel over a period of 10+ years, I cannot burn a BluRay disc. The process will go on till it is 75% done and then give me this error:
AppName: dvdmf.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.0 ModName: mpgmux.dll
ModVer: 1.1.2.37 Offset: 0002628b
C:\DOCUME~1\MIKEST~1.ESO\LOCALS~1\Temp\edc7_appcompat.txt
I usuall burn enough slideshows to go to 75% of MF7's capacity, i.e., they claim 99 slideshows with up to 99 slides per show. So I put ONE slideshow on a BluRay and it burned. Then I added a WAV file and it was kaput. Without audio capability, you cannot add narration to slideshows, which is often necessary to discuss what the viewer is seeing. Music is sometimes appropriate, like adding the sound of that folk orchestra to those vacation photos.
I have found little, actually no, interest at Corel. I have gotten suggestions to Format C and start all over again, or suggestions to use another Corel product that is either inappropriate or exremely difficult to use with few features that one would want for viewing slides, or just silence. I am hoping that some of you may be into photography and want to use MF7's marvelous slideshow features, and have found some answers as to what is going on here.
