Context menu on layer groups omits Properties

Post by HerbMillerJW »

For the first month or so using PSP X4 I thought you couldn't open Properties and adjust blend ranges on entire layer groups, but it turns out I can if I open Properties from the menu. There is no context menu entry! What is with that, Corel? Minor UI issue but would be a nice inclusion.

They re-arranged a lot of the menu options making the palette less impressive (and for some less scary) at the expense of what we have considered a normal workflow really slowing us down over time.

Luckily, as you say, it is a minor UI issue and you can place the properties link into the context menu if you like so you can get that back into a convenient location.

Double click the layer preview in the layer palette.

Click View> Cusomize> Menu tab.
Select the Context menu that you want to add or edit from the drop down under Context Menus:, you should see the menu that you want to change appear.
Go to the Commands tab, find the command you want to add. Click and drag it to the menu where you want it to be.
To remove something drag it back to the Customize menu.
To move it, move it to where you want.
When done, click Close.

-- EDIT --
I tried it out, and right clicking on a layer in the Layers pallet, there's a Properties... command at the top of the list.

It has three dots: "Properties..."

Try clicking on a layer group.

The layers palette has four context menus:
1) Layers Palette
2) Layers Palette - Art Media
3) Layers Palette - Group
4) Layers Palette - Vector

All except the Group menu have the option to access the properties.
