5.1 Channels in x4

Post by zehavi »

Hello,
My captured files type in the timeline are m2ts and 5.1 audio channels as I get them from my HD Camcorder.
After rendering to AVCHD (1920X1080) I get a mts file without 5.1 channels, even I have checked (before the rendering) the "enable 5.1 surround" in the setting menu. In the audio atributes of the renderred file it is written only 48000 Hz without any number of channels (in the orhginal captured files it is written audio atributes: 48000 Hz 5.1 channels).
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Abraham

Are you sure your videos from your camera have 5.1 channels? If so, I was unaware of a camera with so may microphones. Right click on your videos on the timeline and select properties to verify they are indeed 5.1 and report back... Al

This is excactly what I have done (right click on the videos on the timeline and select properties), the videos on the timeline are indeed 5.1 channels
My camera: Sony HDR-CX550 has an option to select surround 5.1 channels.

Can you try posting the complete information on the properties? Also, the same thing happens when you select CUSTOM > MPEG TRANSPORT-STREAM FILE (*.m2ts) > click OPTIONS then COMPRESSION tab and check on the AUDIO SETTINGS (Audio Format).?

Thank you Abiel,
When I created my video file by the CUSTOM option I have sacceed to make a mts movie (1920x1080) with 5.1 channels. I wonder why the movie with 5.1 channels is a little bit smaller than the one with the 2 channels.
I don't have any idea how to post the properties pages.

I don't have any idea how to post the properties pages.
The simplest way would be to take a screen shot of the Properties box and simply upload it as an attachment here. But you could also simply type up the properties as part of your next post!

As far as uploading an attached image, when you are in the Reply screen here, writing your response, look down to the bottom left and you will see two tabs: Options and Upload Attachment. You click that, then browse to the image you want and "Add the file".

Thank you Ken,
Could you please let me know how to to take a screen shot of the Properties box?
I have tried to use the PrtScn in the keyboard and afterwards to paste it in a word document, but the extention doc is not allowed to upload to this message.
I still don't understand why I have to use the CUSTOM option in order to make a 5.1 channels movie, and not the usual way by selecting: Create Video File/AVCHD (1920X1080), even the enable 5.1 surround is selected in the settings.
Thanks,
Abraham

You don't use word but an image editing program, such as PhotoImpact or Paintshop or even Windows' built in paint program. Then save it preferably as a JPG (because of the smaller size). Also crop off everything except the Properties box as we want the image small but still readable...

You can use the "snipping tool" in the Windows Accessories to copy a portion of the screen. It lets you highlight a portion of the screen and save the image as a jpg.

Thank you very much all of you.
Attached 3 properties images:
Original clip - type m2ts from the timeline as captured from my camera with audio 5.1 channels
Movie1 - type m2t as rendered by the usual way: Create Video File/AVCHD (1920X1080) - audio 2 channels has been accepted (even the enable 5.1 channels has been selected in the Settings).
Movie2 - type m2t as rendered by: Create Video File/Custom etc. - audio 5.1 channels has been accepted
I hope it's clear enough now.

Abraham

Hi Abraham

Video Studio provides you with some standard templates. From Share Create Video File you can see the list available, however they cannot provide you with every possibility, the list would be endless, some of the templates may not be suitable for you.

The HD templates AVCHD, Bluray use Digital Dolby 2 channel, unfortunately you require 5.1 channel.
Not a problem as the Custom option does allow you to modify the properties keeping within the standards. Also note the Data Rate of 16000kbps. The template using 18000kbps

There are other options you can use………
If Share Create Video File- Same as First Video is available, then that will render using your video files properties and should include 5.1 audio

Make Movie Templates Manager goes a little further allowing you to create your own templates.
Try the Add function (if available) will copy your original properties. The template being available adjacent to the “custom” option.
Otherwise use the New option and the File Format as Mpeg Transport Stream.

Just a little more info on using the Add function for making a template.

To make such a template in X2 you need to have a sample file with the properties you wish to include in the template. Then choose Tools > Make Movie Templates Manager. Then in the dialogue box which appears, click 'Add' down at the bottom. In the new dialogue box which appears, click the '...' button beside 'File Path' and navigate to where your sample video is stored, then select it. The file path should now appear in the dialogue box. Give the Template a sensible name you will remember. Then click OK then Close to get out of the dialogue boxes. Next time you open X2's Editing module, and you want to produce an identical video, choose Share > Create Video File, and in the drop-down menu your new template should appear down towards the bottom.

Note that templates made in this way cannot be later edited. If you try, the template will revert to default DVD SD properties and you would have to make a new template to get back to what you had.

Hi Abraham,

I see that you are working with PAL system so you might have different results that I get, but could you try to see if you can also sucessfuly burn AVCHD DVD with all 5.1 tracks. So far I was not able to do so in NTSC. No matter which settings I select including custom with 5.1 enabled the CS X4 creates Stereo Disc only.

On the side but related note ... does your rendered 5.1 output file have proper audio balance in stereo downmix stream?
To find out more please see my post http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 65#p240065
