catalog/keyword question

Post by fotojrb »

I currently have two catalogs, named like this:
  • +Music
    +MyPhotos
If, for example, I expand the Music catalog, it looks like this:
  • -Music
    • -Drive
      • -Folder
        • Event1
          Event2
"Event1" contains the images from one event, Event2 the images from another. (Needless to say, this is a greatly simplified version of what I've got.)

If "Link to Catalogs" in the Metadata Browser is unchecked, I see all the keywords for both catalogs.

If, on the other hand, "Link to Catalogs" is checked and either top-level catalog name (Music or MyPhotos) is selected, I don't see any keywords at all. In the case of Music, I don't see the keywords until I select either Event1 or Event2, in which case I see the keywords for that event. Which is no help if a given musician has appeared at more than one event, and I want to find all images of that musician.

It seems to me that, if "Link to Catalogs" is checked, I should see the keywords for all of Music when it is selected and for all of MyPhotos when it is selected. In fact, it seems to me that it worked that way once, and I'm not sure what has changed.

Is my understanding of the catalog/keyword interaction off the mark? Is my catalog setup wonky? Help appreciated.

Check the little recursive folder icon on top of the catalog view...
It seems this is off...

That did the trick. Many thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how is anyone supposed to figure that out? I looked up "recursive" in the Help and found it, but it didn't shed any light. Is this something that a Bibble user is expected to know already?

No ;). I picked this little trick from the webinar video: http://www.youtube.com/user/CorelAfterS ... re=context. The catalog section starts at around 15:45 mins.
