Cropping - How to Set Default to Custom
Every time I click on the Crop Tool in ASP the default is "1.5 2:3 4x6 35mm" aspect. I like to use the custom setting for most images. Is there any way to set the crop tool to the Custom setting? I can't seem to find anything in the Help file or Preferences. Thanks.

Re: Cropping - How to Set Default to Custom
Select an image, then click on the "Crop" tool at bottom left of your workspace...
Then click on the bar that has 1.50 etc.. the top of the drop down list has "Custom"; click on it.
Now you can randomly change the aspect of your crop.
Alternatively you can just unlock the aspect ratio of the crop tool.
If custom is what you usually use you can add it to a preset that you can apply to all, or just some of your images.

Crop defaults can be defined just liek any other image defaults.
In this case set crop to custom but do not activate it when saving image defaults.

Re: Cropping - How to Set Default to Custom
Thanks for the tips. I think the easiest solution - for me - would be to have the Crop Tool default to UNLOCK. This doesn't seem possible in the custom crop settings I made or in the Preferences settings. Am I missing something?

Re: Cropping - How to Set Default to Custom
After almost 20 years of using Paint Shop Pro, etc. I really feel stupid using a Crop tool in ASP that seems so unintuitive.
Here's what I do. I enable Crop > Custom. Then Control-Right Click the thumbnail, open the Settings menu and select Save as Rendered Default and go to the Crop option. Then What? Is this where I tick or untick the Lock Aspect. Which options allow me to do a free-hand crop for all subsequent images? Thanks.

It all depends on whyt you're used tojpmccormac wrote:After almost 20 years of using Paint Shop Pro, etc. I really feel stupid using a Crop tool in ASP that seems so unintuitive.![]()
The tickmarks in that dialog just specify which option is to be saved. Not the value of the option. That is taken from the current image. Here's what I do. I enable Crop > Custom. Then Control-Right Click the thumbnail, open the Settings menu and select Save as Rendered Default and go to the Crop option. Then What? Is this where I tick or untick the Lock Aspect. So the tickmark for lock aspect needs to be ticked. And if you set the corp tool appropriately before this step, the value should show false.
