PSP x4 will not load after default install. Trial version.

Post by newt »

I am new to the board so, Hello to all:

I have installed the 30-day trial version of PSP x4. The product seems to have installed cleanly without any error codes.

When I start the program, I get a dialog box which asks me to register the product. So, I fill in the email info and leave the boxes checked and click the register button.

The dialog box info then becomes a blank white dialog box and thats it.

Win7 64-bit home edition on a HP DV7 laptop continues to function as per usual.

Please advise.

thanx

Is the program able to phone home? Is your firewall or other security program blocking it? If you have a third party firewall make certain that your Windows firewall is indeed turned off.

If that's all on the up and up, try holding the shift key while double clicking the shortcut to start PSP. That tells it to reset the workspace. Since you've never used it, there shouldn't be anything to reset, but it may do something for you.

Thanx for responding. You're right. The program could not phone home. I had to change the settings for cookies through Internet Explorer. After that, all was well. Of all the programs that I have installed in my lifetime, I have never had to lower my security just to run a paint program.

For something like Microsoft Essentials I can see where it might be required but, I did not expect it for this. Anyway, it actual took me longer to configure my profile on this board to ask for help than it did to adjust my cookies.

So, no biggy. It's just one more annoying thing that some companies feel the need to do while others do not.

Thanx again.
