Pro X4-New User needs a quick fix

Post by zelli »

Hi,
I'm just up with X4 and new to "pro" type editing software. Unfortunately, I have several photos with a date stamp on them and I have an urgent need to remove the date stamp ASAP. I certainly would explore the software to figure it out AND search the forums for any info, but I thought I might take a chance and ask if anyone could give me a quick instruction how to best accomplish this.

I know this is bad form to start this way, but..... go easy.

Thanks

Select the Clone Brush tool in the toolbar down the left hand side of screen. (Float your mouse over the tools and they will be identified -- but it is the eighth tool down from the top.) Right click on an area close to the date stamp to select that colour. Then move the cloning circle over ther time stamp and left click to apply that colour to each part of the date stamp. You will need to adjust the size of the brush and vary the selected colour. Otherwise you will clone too much or the cloning will be very obvious, which you don't want.

OK great. I checked out the clone tool and I thank you for your detailed reply. That should be the tool of choice for quite a few fixes, like removing the dark bags from under my wife's eyes after keeping her up all night(s) while on vacation.

Thanks.

For both of these operations, in addition to the CLONE tool, you could use the PUSH and SMUDGE tools. I'd first Clone, then if necessary Push and maybe Smduge smaller areas. Set your opacity and hardness accordingly. I set hardness to 40 or 50%. Click the larger DOWN arrow to the right of the "selection" areas and a relative scale will be displayed.
