Corel VideoStudio 4 - poor render quality

Post by saperos »

Hello everyone,

Im using trial version of VideoStudio (version 14.1.0.150) I faced a big problem with render quality. For testing purposes I took small video recorded by Panasonic SD90 camera - pies.m2ts - (link to samples at the end of this post) As you can see, original raw file has perfect quality everything is sharp and no pixels can be spotted)

My changes done in VideoStudio are simple. I just divided video into two parts and added simple transition effect between them. Finally I created video using "same as in first video" preferences. I turned off smart rendering. In main VideoStudio option I just disabled color filter. Final video (pies_corel.m2ts) quality is poor, pixels are everywhere, its maily visible on grass...

Am i doing something wrong? I thought setting "same as in first video" will use parameters equal to original file... I really like VideoStudio, but render quality is non acceptable :( Can I do something about it?

Samples can be downloaded here:
http://uploaded.to/file/x7nx15hb

Regards,
Kuba

EDIT:
When Im using "HD writer" - software added to camera, render quality is awesome, It's same as original even with transition effects.
But I prefer VideoStudio and its features... please help me with this issue.

Hi

Welcome to the forums
I am unable to download the samples, the site tells me I have reached my download limit even though I have never used it??????

Can you right click an original video in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
Do the same for the rendered video, are these properties the same.?

If you enable the colour filter does that make any difference.?

Hi,

Mirror for samples:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/F34pwUbv/filmy.html

Properties look same.

Enabling the colour filter changes nothing :(

First, I did not think "Same as first video" worked with high def AVCHD video. Instead, it substitutes the default standard definition properties. So I would try Share > Create Video File > Custom and set your own properties to match those of your original video. Or else, use Share > Create Video File > and choose one of the AVCHD options if its properties are much the same as the original.

Of course it does! You choose mpeg (transport stream) as the format, and then edit the properties. In the Compression tab, you can choose either AVCHD or HDV as the final output, and change the other properties as well to match the original.

In the first dialogue box in your first photo, notice the downward pointing arrow to the right of MPEG. Click that, and then choose mpeg transport stream, as I suggested above. Then you will have those choices.

That seems very strange. In my own set-up, apart from AVI and MPEG, which you have, I have 11 other formats to choose between, including MPEG Transport Stream.
MPEG_TS.jpg
Do you have somehow or other an SE version of the software? Or have you downloaded or installed from disc all the options?

My other suggestion depends on my very shaky understanding of some of the Polish in your photo. It seems to me you are showing Settings > Project Properties. If that is the case, select Share > Create Video File > Custom, and you should get the screen I have in my picture.

Hi Ken/ saperos

Ken I agree with you I think saperos has chosen the Project Properties window, is is NOT the Save Video File window.

1. Share
2. Create Video File
3. Custom
4. Save type As-- MPEG Transport-Stream Files (*m2t)

Hello,

Thanks I was able to find this menu. I indeed tried to mess around with all options there but final effect has not changed. I can see fields of pixels in rendered video - same as in sample.
