MP4 not work after SP

Post by shon3i »

Long time i use Video Studio Pro X4, and everything work great importing videos from mine Practica DVC 5.4 FHD camcorder. I recently see some email from support that SP2 and even SP1 exist and it have some new stuff, i installed but importing previously worked files now return format mismatch. I can provide a sample if need.

Thanks

Hi
and welcome to the forums

strange that the patches have causing problems

When you say importing previously worked files I assume you are importing video files or are you referring to project files VSP’s

If they are video files how are you inserting to the timeline.
(Right click timeline and select Insert Video)

If they are Project files VSP then go to File – Open Project

Do you know the type of files you are using ?
If needed I will look at your sample video files, can you provide a download link?

Thanks,

I mean importing video files (*.mp4) not saved projects (*.vsp), but behavior on end is same.

I insert videos in timeline from library manager, but sometimes directly (right click insert video), but now since SP1 or SP2 always same format mismatch error message when i try to add something to libraty or to timeline.

Files are MP4 (H264 + AAC)

You may want to update the codecs on your computer. Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip

I alredy have lastest Quicktime, DirectX, WME. I rather not install DivX, because will do mess with mine other codecs, such Haali Media Splitter, ffdshow, CoreAVC, Gabest and other chains. I don't know how RealPlayer can have impact on mp4? I find quick solution to rename .mp4 to .mov and than everything work fine, also seem if i remux current MP4 via mp4box or mp4mux also work like charm. But i don't know why worked early without any manipulation ?

Hi

Thanks for the sample.
I cannot open the MP4 file, like you can open when renamed to MOV.

I viewed the properties using Gspot which showed the compression status as “undetermined”
Guess that means it cannot read the file correctly or that I do not have the appropriate codec installed.

I assume the file came from your camera, did the camera come with software, if yes installing it may install the required codecs?

@lata, problem renaming into mov produce very slow playback in timeline before render, and if i use some filter that make video unplayable before render. Since i have strong enough processor to do any task. And i had very smooth playback without SPx even i put around ten different filters on video. I think is that because, QuickTime H264 is slow and it's now multi threaded.

GSpot is not good software for MP4 examination and it's very outdated, and its work with VFW interface, so cannot show you exactly what is need.

My camcorder produce AVCHD compliant files that plays fine on any standalone player, on CD i get with camcorder i get some crappy Arcsoft studio, which doesn't install any codecs, just QuickTime.

I will probably downgrade VideoSudio to SP0 since there worked like charm and smooth.

Another working solution is remuxing current mp4 to new mp4 via mp4box with this commandline

Code: Select all

mp4box.exe -add "FILE0015.mp4" -new "FILE0015-new.mp4"
Newly generated mp4 import fine into VideoStudio X4 SP2, difference between original and remuxed is that first have Format profile QuickTime, remuxed is Base Media.

Btw i installed SP2 directly without SP1 did i need install SP1 first before SP2?
