Moviefactory 2.5 Dual Layer Support

Does anyone know if MovieFactory 2.5 will support Dual Layer burns for a Sony DRU-800A? I just got one and haven't tried it yet on my Movie Factory.

i think DL support was added from mf3 onwards?

DMF3 supports DL burning after install the DL Support patch. However, the patch will only work for Full versions of the software. OEM/SE of DMF3 will not be able to install this.

dmf4 is now able and it supports DL burning on +R without any patch. they just released 4.01 patch to support -R DL burning.

I have found out that there are two updates that will allow DL support on MF1,2,&3. You have to get the latest Burning Pack, PLUGIN_Patch_E_030815.exe first. Then you get the latest burning engine ULCDRDrv.dll. version 3.4.6.153. The Burning Pack is a self install but the Burning engine is a zip file thet you have to extract to the DVD file where the previous ULCDRDrv.dll resides.
I haven't tried a DL burn with MF yet but Ulead says it will.

i think the burning pack is for DMF 1, 2, 2.5 only since DMF3 already has this update. the latest burning engine in their website is 3.6.17.246.

dmf3 full will only burn DL disc if after installing the DL support patch. DMF4 is already configured to burn DL (+R) disc. for -R DL disc, you need to install their lates patch which, by the way, updates the burning engine to .281

The description I give in my post of the two updates is right off the Ulead download page. They say the downloads are good for MF 1.X, 2.X, and 3.X. I assume that the early versions of MF3 are missing DL supprt because when it was first released, DL burners weren't on the market yet.

the BURNING ENGINE update (3.6.17.246) is for MovieFactory 1, 2, 3 versions. The CD/DVD burning Pack (DVD_PLUGIN_Patch_E_030815.exe), although the link is also found on the burning engine page, is for DMF 1.x,2.x. This is according to the Tech support of MovieFactory.

DMF3 already has the update from the DVD burning pack so you only need to update the BURNING ENGINE.

For DL burning, only DMF3 FULL supports it. However, you need to install the 2-part DL Support patch file. OEM/SE versions will not be able to support DL burning.
