how do I stop random title making

Post by Stoneprod »

I have had Workshop 2 for about two months, it worked great for about one week and ever since I have had one problem after another.

It got to where after capturing any video it would crash freeze up and shut down,

I fixed this by uninstalling my avid and ws 2.0 and then reloading workshop 2.0. So it would capture again. The problem is now that EVERY SINGLE time code change in my raw dv tape ( from start stop record or scene changes on edited footage) it makes it a new title, so I will have 99 titles.

This is extremely frustrating does anyone have any help on how to correct this problem so it does not randomly make titlels out of my footage?
I saw someone else was having trouble with this, isn't there a way to stop it,
Thanks PEte :x

on page 45 of the manual (fro DVD WS 2.x), they talk about Capturing Using Split by Scene.

You probably have that option turned on -- uncheck that "Scene Detection" box, and you should be able to capture/transfer longer videos :)

George,

Thanks for your help about the scene detection, I tried this and it seemed to make things better as in not every scene was made into a seperate title but for some reason it still made radom title choices

How many files did it capture? Is it possible your tape has a "break" in the timecode? Like if you stopped recording, then played the tape, and when you started recording again, there is a "gap" in the timecode on the tape?

Stoneprod,

I think you should be using some video editing software (i.e. Video Studio). DVD Workshop is mainly for making DVDs from an already-complete "movie".

I edit on with avid software on my laptop and try to simply convert the file from avid over to dvdws 2. This never seems to work as it always takes dvd ws 24 + hours then to properly convert the file to DVD and then there is an assortment of errors. ( Note I edit on a new laptop with 160 hd pentium Iv and over a gig of ram) and everythign on the avid reneders quickly so I think this conversion problem itself is in the ws.

I have a lot of edited final products on dv anyway from previous projects on different machines, when I try to load these or a video project that I sent to tape from avid then back to ulead ws, the random title affect still happens on various parts of the edited dv tape changed scenes,

I did check the tape for breaks between video but there are none, it is where footage from an already edited project switched scenes.

So needless to say this has been frustrating and I really need to burn DVD's on my lap top instead of my old dvd system now that I have invested all this money into ulead.

so I appreciate the help and would appreciate any further suggestions

What format is your AVID software rendering to? It certainly sounds like the problem lies there. Does not the AVID itself render to mpg or AVI, so that you don't have to capture in WS2 but simply import the files? Or am I misunderstanding your terminology? Can you please explain more precisely how you are capturing?

Well I do both

some projects I edit on the Avid and then attempt to export from avid into ws 2.0. this has yet to work properly I agree that the problem is probably in the conversion of avid any suggestions on what format to try?

2.) For projects I have edited on another sytem and saved on DV tape I try to load them directly onto the ws 2.0, and these are the ones it makes randome titles for at random scene changes here and there. like it automatically subclips into different titles.

thanks,

OW! That hurts :( I suggest the problem may be in the settings of the AVID print-to-tape feature. Which codec does it use to render the timeline to DV. If poss, I suggest you use Microsoft DV Type 1 codec (It hurts also recommending a Gates' product :( ) Also if you render to AVI for file transfer, unless you prefer the AVID MPEG-2 encoder to the Ulead one (have not tried the former, so am unable to recommend it or otherwise, but the Ulead one is pretty good). But you should not need to go via tape.
