X4: How to Edit Folders in Manage Window

Post by pete532 »

Is it possible to delete/add to/rename folders listed in the Computer tab of the left pane of the Manage window?

Thanks

The context menus could use some all-around enhancement IMHO. The more functionality, the better. Also I feel the image FILENAME should be displayed at the top of the INFO pallet, since if you're viewing only THUMBNAILS, it isn't always perfectly clear what FILE data is being displayed. The downside of course would be long filenames. Another issue with Folders is when you drag and drop a file on a folder, it tends to roll-up that folder to the one above, requiring the user to click it back open. Folders should NOT roll up when dropping files on them to MOVE or manage them.

Unfortunately the folders that you see under the Computer Tab cannot be manage/organize using the software itself, you will need to go out and use Windows (OS) Explorer to delete/add to/rename those folders.

Abiel, if you do it outside X4, don't you destroy the database used by Collections? For example, if you change the name of a folder, will Collections know that you did that? Will it lose track of the images in that folder?
