Joining several projects together

Post by moodymike »

Is there a way of assembling several projects on the same time line in order to create a compilation video then re editing them to create a new project. The only way I can fiqure is to make a video file of each project and then edit together. not a very flexable way of working.

The best way is to create a video file from each project - using the "same as original clip" option to preserve your original quality and insert each one into the timeline and edit out the bits you do not want. - I think you will find that it is indeed quite flexible - you can move cut clips up and down to wherever you want in the timeline.

OR you can insert multiple project files into the timeline - when you right click over the timeline and choose insert video you can in fact insert the VSP files for you original projects - but I do not think you will find that any better than making individual files.

One other option I have used - create a new library - open your first project - drag bits of the video you want to use from the timeline and drop them in the library pane, save and close that project. Repeat for the second project dropping clips into the same library - keep repeating for all projects.
Now start your new 'combined' project and just drag and drop clips from the new library down into the timeline trimming etc. as you go - and there you are.
