Video Track holding sync with music track
When cutting video shots in sync with a music track how can I remove part of a clip and replace with a new shot. I know there is a replace clip facility but there appears to be no way of editing the new clip. What I would like to do is leave blanks in sync with the music and fill in correct lengh of shot later. The same question fo overlaying video shots of an interview and holding sync when returning to interviewee.

Re: Video Track holding sync with music track
If you have a video holding the soundtrack that you need to cut in and out of the usual way is to put that video in the top track complete without any cutting or editing. Then when you want to do a 'cut-away' (change the picture without interrupting the sound) put the cut-away shot in the overlay track and mute it's sound - editing that to the length you want - then when you play in "Project" mode the sound will continue as the other video shows , so that when the cut-away ends the top track shows again and of course as you have not cut anything everything is still in sync.
So with your interview example you would have one video of one of the interviewees in the top track and cut in and out by putting lengths of video showing the other interviewee in the overlay - if you do need to hear the sound from the overlay track then simply cut the video in the top track at each end of the cut-away - do not remove any video but just mute the top track sound between the two cuts.

Re: Video Track holding sync with music track
Each time I insert a video in the overlay track I have to resize, is there a short cut rather than right click and "Fit to screen button"??
I also had a yellow line appear in the time line and could not get cursor to play before this point, bit like a margin in word.

If you click "Settings >> preferences >> Edit" you will see near the top of the panel a check box against 'Use fit-to-size as default in overlay track' tick to check that box.
The only yellow line which usually appears in the time line (as opposed to a line over the timeline) is when you have selected a clip - by clicking on it - and the yellow line denotes the end of the clip - you cannot play beyond that in 'clip' mode you need to be in 'project' mode.
