While using the Layers feature to define various Polygon, Curve, Circular and Brush areas to explore selective application of Sharpening, Noise Ninja and more, ASP is frequently crashing. Sometimes the crashes occurs when trying to delete a layer. Other times the crashing occurs while renaming a layer. The crashes are only occurring, either, while within the Layer's Manager fields and controls, or, when defining the selective area boundaries. This is while editing a full size Canon *.CR2 file from an EOS 1D MK II N (of a relatively modest 8MB filesize).
The error message advises of a Runtime C++ error. There is no dump file mentioned in the message.
Restarting ASP offers the opportunity to Resume or Cancel. I have used both alternatives. They both seem to restart ASP just fine, but do not remedy the underlying problem nor ASP's susceptibility to crash in the above circumstances.

Re: Runtime C++ Crashing when using Layers
I notice that you are using Windows XP, if you have AfterShot Pro installed on a Win XP Machine, I suggest that you try and update the direct X and make you download available Windows XP Updates.

You presume facts not in evidence!
All the current Win XP Pro drivers, updates and Direct X controls are current.

Hi Rob,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. But, if it is as repeatable as you indicate, then we should be able to sort out a solution. Can you help us by uploading the contents of your CRASHLOG folder to http://aftershotpro.com/upload ? The CRASHLOG folder is in your AfterShot settings folder, which on Win XP is at:
(unless you chose a different location at first run)
Cheers, Jeff

Done! Just uploaded the 16 files in the CRASHLOG Folder. As AfterShot is on my K:, the Folder resides there.
If there's any more I can help with, please let me know! Congratulations on now being w/ Corel!!
