slow motion

hello,

i have ulead moviefactory 3.5 deluxe suite, and whenever i try to watch something in slow motion, the player and the whole computer freezes. this happens as soon as i move the dial to 0.5x. i have tried everything i could think of to get it to work, but nothing has. it says that ctrl L is slow motion, but when i do that, the movie hesitates for a split second, and then resumes normal speed. does anyone know any advice for this?
