Video file sizes

Post by frankski »

Hi,
Relatively new to Video Studio and find it pretty good with no problems so far,
however, I find that some vids are too big to upload to the likes of Vimeo and thats using Mpeg files.
Question is how do I save the work down to the accepable size needed ? V.S. seems to just save the Mpegs to whatever it thinks !!
Must be a way but I only have a very small brain here.
Grateful for any assist on this topic.

Hmmm- not quite sure what you have been doing that makes you think VS only exports as mpeg - it can produce a very wide variety of outputs.

You must first have your project in the timeline - then click on the 'Share' tab at the top - then move down the page and choose EITHER - "Create Video File" - which will open a number of options for you - OR on "Upload to Web" where you will find pre-set options to create videos in formats suitable for a number of well known video websites (including Vimeo)

There is even another option there to "Export to a Mobile Device" which will make videos to put on your mobile phone etc.

Vimeos file size limit is at 500 MB every week, so I would assume that the file size that is being created is larger than that. Like what BrianCee suggested, you can create a video with different file formats. If you are using VS X4, you can just use UPLOAD TO WEB option, then select either MPEG-4 HD (16:9) or MPEG-4 (4:3), so that the video file that will be created will be not too large and not too small there the quality of the video is not poor.
