Plugins for 4X

Post by yogirajj »

Hi guys,

I didn't see any posts on this, I hope I'm not creating a duplicate post. Anywayz, I was wondering if anyone has links, or can suggest links of companies that make compatible plugins and filters for 4x??

Most .8bf Photoshop compatible plug-ins will work in Paintshop Pro. The ones that don't are usually the ones that state they work with CS3 or higher only. Most that work with Elements work.

But here's a few links for you:
http://vicanek.de/plugins.htm particularly Vignette Corrector, Contrast Mask, Perspective Transformation, Wire Worm.
http://thepluginsite.com/index.html This list gets changed from time to time. Some free stuff, some not.
http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/ which is particularly helpful if you use a super wide angle lens with lots of distortion. Note that this is also a standalone program.
http://www.optikvervelabs.com/
http://www.portraitprofessional.com/ also a standalone program. The studio version (as of Version 10) has the plug-in to it. The standard version does not. Please don't over do it when using this program/plug-in, it's just too much many times even at the default settings.

DF,

Nice list, thanks. I've been to a few of the sites in the past, but found an interesting looking free plug in. Appreciate the info.

There's a lot more plug-ins, but I've upgraded computers lately and don't have the links to them nor do I remember what they were, which probably speaks to whether or not they were worth downloading. :!:

Topaz Labs has eleven good plugins that can be purchased individually or as a bundle. Pricing is reasonable, and their policy has been free updates and version upgrades. They have a lot of video tutorials to help you learn how to get the most out of them. The most valuable to me is Topaz Adjust.

You may also want to take a look at the NIK Software offerings. Their technology is quite outstanding. They will work when configured for use as the External Editor from AfterShot Pro. Not yet sure how best to get them to operate with PSP X4. However, the PSP X4 Ultimate edition comes bundled with the NIK Software Color Efex Pro 3 filters set, which are very powerful and provide exceptional capabilities!

I don't go for many free plug ins as I have the Topaz bundle and the NIK plug ins. Unfortunately, the NIK plug ins don't work all that well in X4 (although some people say they have no trouble with them--about half of them work on my system.) However, the occasional free plug in is interesting. There are lots of good plug ins if you are willing to spend the money.

Hello,

I have tested some plugins in X4:

i2e -> working fine
Nik color efex 3 -> working, but slow
Nik Dfine -> working, but not with brush
Nik Viveza -> working, but not with brush
Focal Point -> not working
Perfectly Clear -> not working
Noiseware Pro 4 -> working fine
Knoll Light Factory -> working, but without preview

best regards

Topaz, Nik Color Efex 3, Alien Skin Filters, Auto FX, AVBros and Filter Forge all work for me in X4 as well as in X3 and X.

Plus all the older style ones work.
The only filters in my collection that don't as far as I can recall are the OnOne Filters as they are made for PS and are not compatible for PSP.

Beware.. The Nik plug-in comes bundled with X4 Ultimate doesn't install. I have already made complaints about it but no answer from Corel. If I were you will wait and see if they make the program to install properly before parting with cash

The last time I read that the Nik filters didn't install the person who had it didn't know where to look for the plug-ins. It's not like the program pops up and says "hey, lookie here". With that said, make sure you click Effects> Plug-ins> Nik Software, and make certain that they aren't already installed.

That's not to say that you could be different, but let's just cover basics shall we?
