my original file is 1920x1080
I cannot find a way to keep the native resolution when exporting it to this size, even using the same as project settings, it makes it 720x480, when i look at the file when clicking properties it says uncompressed 1920x1080, how do i export it as such just a little more compressed?

Hi
If it indicates Uncompressed 1920 x 1080 then where did the video file originate.
The frame size indicates High Definition.
1-------I assume you own a HD camera, what is the make and model.?
2-------Some cameras record to memory, Hard Drive or maybe SDHC card or Memory stick.
3-------Can you tell us exactly how you transferred the video from the camera to your computer?
4-------Can you say what you intend to make, maybe a Standard Definition DVD, or Bluray?
Knowing what you intend to make will help in suggesting render properties

When you said EXPORT, you are exporting the video file via SHARE > CREATE VIDEO FILE? If Yes, you can create your own Movie Template that you can use to control the properties of your exported video.
To create your own movie template, then you can visit http://pnoy.me/lu for more info on how to create your movie template.
