wavelet/USM -- like Cokin centre spot filter

Post by gareth »

Thought I would share this - the experts will know it already but it's a useful exercise in layers and unusual uses of plugins.
By creating a layer with a hole ( full layer additive and a centre area subtractive) then applying a strong negative wavelet/USM ( -50/200/0)
one gets a fuzzy pale vignette - which can be changed using Exposure to give a fuzzy dark vignette.
It also gives me an excuse to show off my grandson Theo (a grainy picture as it was at 1600ISO but Ninja helped there) :)
The effect is a bit reduced as there is a low upload size limit but it gives you an idea to play with.

Nice idea.
Is there any difference/advantage in comparison to only define one circly layer and invert it?
