I am using Corel VideoStudio ProX4 to build a small movie and am having a problem with AVI files. When I go to Step 2 Edit, and click on the folder icon to "Import Media Files" I can see a set of mp4 and avi files I would like to use in my project. The mp4 files open fine and play just fine. The avi files were opening fine last night, but would play in a jerky manner when an audio track was laid over them. I blew away that project and today tried to go to Step 2 Edit, Import Media files, and tried to import the avi files again now I get this message:
File format mismatch
1081:1:3
It will no longer let me import, play, edit the avi files. These files play fine in Windows Media Player so I'm not sure what is going on. Can I get some help on what may be causing this issue? I just installed Service Pack 2 yesterday, and I'm thinking this may be causing the problem. I see others seem to be having similar problems, but haven't seen any answers on a patch or workaround yet. Thanks.

Re: Error importing avi files
There are some 800+ different avi files, some work well, others work sometimes, some work never, adn that's the same with all editors.
The way a playing programme pulls in the info needed to work is different to an editor, which is why players can play and editors can't edit.
Use a conversion programme like "super" to convert them to wmv or something similar which will work in VS.

Re: Error importing avi files
If you were able to import or load the video before then this could be a problem with codecs. Though converting the video file wont hurt either...
Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx
