When multiple images are selected (thumbnails are surrounded in orange) it seems that some operations operate on all the selected images, whereas others operate on the current image (thumbnail highlighted in white).
For example: "flag as pick/reject", delete, "apply initial settings" cannot be applied to multiple images at once, only the current image. Whereas operations such as paste settings are always applied to all of the selected images.
Do I misunderstand something here? Is this just an accidental UI inconsistency or something smarter?
Is there a good way to delete or flag several images at once? Thanks
Operations on multiple selections?

multi-image view must be off!
Multi-Image View button (or press M)
Multi-Image View button (or press M)

Thanks, that's enabled me to do the multiple deletions and flags, just what I needed.hannes_hab wrote:multi-image view must be off!

Though it doesn't really explain the inconsistency with the paste tool, which is awkward and a little confusing.

Re: Operations on multiple selections?
The idea behind this behaviour (keep/reject/etc has influence only on one image when multiview selected) is,
that you need to have some images selected for telling ASP which one you want to view simultaneously, for comparison.
Then, when you are in comparison mode, you want to differentiate just one image from the rest of the selection. (keeper/or unwanted, colour label.) So you need your tagging restrict just to this particular image - the active one (with focus).
When I am not sure which one to keep and which delete, I use colour codes to mark more blurred ones, or better ones.
Sometimes I use temporary star ratings until revisiting and final decision.
Some colours I use for shots I want to process differently. You have great freedom here
My workflow is: let's say I have a bunch of 3-5 images, for example from serial shooting, and I need to pick the best one. So I select the whole bunch, activate multiimage, zoom, scroll through image, compare the sharpness/face expression, etc, choose one - click on it - so this one gets focus. Then hit TAG as PICKED key. Thanks to this special behaviour only the focused image is tagged, all images are staying selected like before, and I can continue with looking for/tagging another keepers. When I am done with the keepers, I can turn off the multiimage and work as usual, or deselect and choose another set for culling.
When the whole folder is culled,
I turn on the filter to show everything except PICKED,
make sure I DESELECT all images that were selected BEFORE filter activation (please note the images selection status is not influenced by filter, so you may have selected images they would not pass the filtering criteria) This is done by simple mouseclick without CTRL on arbitrary image which I am sure belongs to unit which passes filtering criterion, then hit CTRL+A, and delete all images that have not passed my validation
Of course you can use inverted approach - you can tag the images you want to delete with REJECT flag, and then not use "does not equal" but "equals" on the filter.
