There is no valid video clip
I am usin the trial version of VideoStudio. After a lot of fiddling about (VideoStudio didn't recognize my camcorder) I was able to see my video clips in VideoStudio by placing my memory card in an external card reader. Whilst all the clips appear, VideoStudio informs me that there are no valid video clips. Help!

Re: There is no valid video clip
With one of your video clips in the timeline please right click on it - then from the pop-up which appears choose 'properties'
please copy all of those properties and post them up here. Once we know what sort of video we are dealing with we may be able to help you.

Re: There is no valid video clip
Whilst I was able to see all the clips in the capture screen I was unable to import then as they were all invalid clips. As a result I couldn't add them to the timeline as you suggested. I clicked on a clip in the capture screen and was told that the format was Video File and the clip size 0.00kb. I tried again later and was able to capture the first clip successfully. I then tried to copy the other clips but they were all invalid. Each time I try to capture the clips something different happens (i.e a lot of the clips appear but cannot be captured because they are invalid and others show the clip name but contain a large question mark).

Hi
The capture screen/process is used to import analogue or tape based video to save to the hard drive.
If you are using a HD camcorder recording to hard drive or memory card then your video can be imported to your pc in the same way as still images. Drag and drop or using the cameras software to import from camera to pc.
If your video files are already on the hard drive.
Do not use the Capture tab
Select the Edit Tab
Right click the timeline and select “Insert Video”
Browse your hard drive to locate your files.
Thumbnail or virtual clips will be placed in the timeline representing your video files.
If you have the files on memory stick, best to save to your hard drive, or a drive that is not going to be disconnected.

Re: There is no valid video clip
After converting my clips from MP4 to MP2 I followed your instructions (select the Edit tab, right click the timeline and select "Insert Video", browse your hard drive to locate your files). Unfortunately I received the same error message for each of the sixty eight clips (e.g. "C:\A-SANYO Downloads\DCIM-101 SANYO MP2\SANYO005.AVI is not available"). Is this because of the AVI extension?

Re: There is no valid video clip
if it has an .avi extension then it is Avi - that clip has not been converted - clips converted to mpeg2 should have the extension .mpg

Hi
By using the method Right Click timeline –select Insert Video
Are you able to import the original video?
If yes then provide the properties of the video, again right click clip and select properties.
If you cannot import the video………
1……Did the camera come with software/a program, if yes have you installed this?
2……Do you have Quicktime installed on your pc
3……are you able to provide a short clip, below 100Mb, use the camera to record a few seconds.
If you can make it below 20 mb you should be able to e-mail.
4…… There is a small program called G.Spot this will be able to read the properties of the video and indicate if your pc has the Codec’s installed

5.... can you give details of the cameras Make and Model, yep its Sanyo but which one?

Re: There is no valid video clip
The high definition is from a camcorder (Sanyo Xacti VPC GH4)
I was able to solve the problem by converting the video clips from MP4 to MP2. Previously I had converted them to .AVI by mistake.Video Studio does not recognize the camcorder. I have to import the clips to the hard drive via an external card reader as the computer doesn't recognize the card when I place it directly in the computer's USB port. Perhaps the problem has something to do with the fact that I didn't format the memory card before using it?

Re: There is no valid video clip
I managed to overcome the problem by converting my MP4 clips to MP2. After successfully importing them to Videopad I stabilised them, however the result was disappointing. The processed video shimmered to such an extent that it was unwatchable.

It could be that you reveresed the fields from upper field first to lower field first, or vice versa.
Or, you may have compressed it too much.
Or, you may have compressed it a lot, reduced it's physical size down to 720x480 and then showing it on a 1920x1080 tv.
