Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
Now that I have tried the zPerspector Plugin and compared it with Perspective Correction in PaintShop Pro, I think it is great.
Attached is a quick ASP sample of Sherborne Abbey that I tried in both programs. The controls are very different in use compared with PSP, which relies on dragging the corners, but I think they work very well.
My only concern is that in PSP I usually have to apply a 'Deform', eg reduce the Height to 95%, to get the right perspective, but I don't know how to do this in ASP. Any suggestions?

A GREAT Plug-in! I have run a couple of images through it and it performs fantastically. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately (if the plugin is more or less unchanged port from B5), there is no such function.Tadjio wrote:My only concern is that in PSP I usually have to apply a 'Deform', eg reduce the Height to 95%, to get the right perspective, but I don't know how to do this in ASP. Any suggestions?
I have a discussion with TinTin in the past, I would welcome nonlinear resize in zPerspector.
Because by intensive perspective correction the relative size of some objects is changed - quite noticeably, I think this can be corrected by nonlinear resizing.
Non linear resize tool example
Please note the uneven resize of upper and lower half of the image. This is normal and expected of course.
--------------------------------
But after precise application of non linear resizing, the differences should be eliminated. And because on my example the zPerspector settings are symmetrical according to vertical axis, after perspective correction I can use resize along this vertical axis.
I do not have corrected preview, because I realized the example software is somewhat lame and does not enable to set pivot point of resize.
But it should be obvious from the link, what the software does.
What do you think?

Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
What about if you change all four vertical sliders equally ? (Andy has just changed the top two)

I read through your links and I think what you are looking for is PaintShop Pro as an External Editorandysalay wrote:Unfortunately (if the plugin is more or less unchanged port from B5), there is no such function.Tadjio wrote:My only concern is that in PSP I usually have to apply a 'Deform', eg reduce the Height to 95%, to get the right perspective, but I don't know how to do this in ASP. PSP has extensive Pick/Deform and Warp Tools - here is an example of the Pick Tool dialogue: In practice I only adjust either the ScaleX(%) or ScaleY(%) to say 95% until the result looks right!

Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
I'm new to ASP and Bibble plug-ins - so I hope you don't mind this question. I've installed the Corel plug-ins (with the .afzplug extension) without any problems. I can't install the Bibble plug-ins (.bzplug). How are you checking out the zPerspector plug-in in ASP? Any help would be appreciated! Bob

Thank you DaveQ. I missed the detail and assumed it referred to the Bibble version. I got my "af" and "b" extensions mixed up. Thanks again - Bob

Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
I have now been using the zPerspector PlugIn a lot for Perspective Correction in ASP and the more I use it, the more I prefer it to the facility in PSPTadjio many moons ago wrote:Coming to ASP after using PaintShop Pro (PSP) for a long time, the major feature I miss from PSP is Perspective Correction.
If we had a comparable feature in ASP, this would reduce the need to call PSP as an External Editor.
There is one pair of controls, however, that seem to me to be counter-intuitive: The Lower Left Corner and Lower Right Corner Up/Down sliders. They should move in the opposite direction!

all the 8 sliders are implemented to move the corners out by turning the mouse wheel upward and to the inner when turning the mouse wheel downward.Tadjio wrote:There is one pair of controls, however, that seem to me to be counter-intuitive: The Lower Left Corner and Lower Right Corner Up/Down sliders. changing this for just that both sliders would break the ui somehow.

It's difficult to explain other than by doing it! I am talking about the slider, not the mouse wheel.tintin wrote:all the 8 sliders are implemented to move the corners out by turning the mouse wheel upward and to the inner when turning the mouse wheel downward.Tadjio wrote:There is one pair of controls, however, that seem to me to be counter-intuitive: The Lower Left Corner and Lower Right Corner Up/Down sliders. Moving the upper-left corner up/down is fine :-
- Mouse wheel up, drag slider up, all increase the numerical value and move the corner up.
Moving the lower-left corner up/down is odd :-
- Mouse wheel up moves the corner outward (down) as I would expect.
Slider up moves the corner inward (up) which is wrong to me (and reduces the numerical value).

Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
I haven't made myself clear - when I say 'slider up' I am using the arrow keys (not dragging the slider, which works ok).Tadjio wrote:Moving the lower-left corner up/down is odd :-I can live with it, but I still feel it is counter-intuitive when using the slider!
- Mouse wheel up moves the corner outward (down) as I would expect.
Slider up moves the corner inward (up) which is wrong to me (and reduces the numerical value).
Let me just try and explain this another way:
Using the arrow keys on the top row sliders 'move upper-left corner left/right' and 'move upper-right corner left/right' work in equal and opposite ways, so why don't 'move upper-left corner up/down' and 'move lower-left corner up/down'?
I give up - I think this is going to be too difficult to change...

Re: AfterShot Pro Perspective Correction [zPerspector Plugin
The mouse wheel and keys work the same ( push/up = bigger , more positive value )
You are right that it might be more logical for the mouse wheel (pull) and arrow(down) to move down on on the lower up/down sliders
but that logic would not work with left and right so I think it is better to stay with up = bigger number!
