AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG [or can I sort/filter by Type?]
I have been using ASP with RAW and JPEG Images from both Canon and Olympus and comparing with Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP).
Just like you can with DPP, is it possible to combine RAW+JPEG Images and treat them as one Master with Stacked Versions? This would improve workflow dramatically.

Requested uncountable times from many users on the old forum.
And, asked also for awareness of the .BIB files (the format of Bibble4, ancestor of .XMP), when moving, renaming, deleting. So simple from the developers' POV. I cannot understand why it was ignored...

I have put the request directly to Craig Copley. the Senior Product Manager for Corel Photo Enthusiast Products.andysalay wrote:Requested uncountable times from many users on the old forum.

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG
I've just just a quick search of "+RAW +JPG" and indeed at least 3 people have requested this in the "Wishlist for future versions" thread, which is comforting that others feel the same way.steve09224 wrote:I've put this request again to the wishlist-for-future-versions thread a few days ago.Steve.andysalay wrote:+1000

To me, as a newbie to ASP/Bibble, it seems a significant defect that a Raw Converter and Photo Management system does not combine RAW+JPG in the way that Canon's DPP does.

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG - outsorting
While I wait for Corel to respond to the suggestion to combine RAW+JPG Images, I have been trying to work with my folders that contain both RAW and JPG Images.
I cannot find any way to reference the image or file "Type" ie whether an image is RAW or JPG.
I have tried the 'Sort Criteria' ie Name, Date, etc. but Type is not listed.
I have also looked at the 'Filter' for Rating, Label and Flag but again no joy.
How do I outsort the JPGs from the RAW Images so that I don't have to step through both?

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG
In the library tab go to the Metadata Browser and select 'Photo Info' > 'File Type' > ...
Also use the option 'Link to Catalogs' at the top of the Metadata Browser.
Works great after importing the pictures.

Ahhh, thanks Chris. I was working in the File System, where I can't do that.ChrisC wrote:In the library tab go to the Metadata Browser and select 'Photo Info' > 'File Type' > ...

At the moment I am a bit wary of the Catalog. I don't want to include lots of 'rubbish' photos.
Is anything possible using the File System?

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG [Sort/filter by Type?]
Nothing I am aware of.
My suggestion would be to use a dedicated catalog for this purpose so you don't have to worry about messing it up.

Right, that makes sense.ChrisC wrote:My suggestion would be to use a dedicated catalog for this purpose so you don't have to worry about messing it up.
Can I copy / move images between Catalogs easily, in order to put them into a 'proper' Catalog later?

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG [or can I sort/filter by Type?]
You could try the Show EXIF switch. Then, when you mouse over the thumbnails you get a little pop-up window showing the image EXIF. I think the file type is shown there. It's really a partial feature--IMHO you should be able to have a window permanently open like the Filter or History ones that shows the data for the current image--I have that in the feture request thread.

Thanks, "Bibble transplant", the Exif Viewer does show the Type in the Filename, but I already know that.claudermilk wrote:You could try the Show EXIF switch. I want to avoid having to look at both the JPG and the RAW Image all the time.
I agree, a permanent EXIF Window would be useful.

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG [or can I sort/filter by Type?]
(sort)/filter can be done in file system mode too:
- go to a raw file you have not edited yet
- set the green "picked" flag
- settings -> save as raw (or camera) - default
thats it - all your new downloaded raw files from CF/SD card have the green flag - the jpgs don have it
you can do ctrl R - to apply the default settings to older images ...
you may also want to set IPTC - copyright information - default crop (fit to max) - wavelet sharpen on and asp sharpen off - and so on ... - everything you want that all raws (or the files from a specific camera) should have

Thanks, Hannes, that sounds like an excellent solution. I will investigate.
I'm still getting used to the RAW Defaults concept...

Re: AfterShot Pro RAW+JPEG [Sort/filter by Type?]
It is not really a copy or move. You can import the images into the second/final catalog. The only thing you must be aware is: If you change an image in catalog2 and the same image has been imported in catalog1 as well -> then you will see this changes in catalog1 only after reimporting those images in catalog1. But as I understand you - you don't need to see any later changes in catalog1 after you have decided that the go into the final catalog2.Tadjio wrote:Can I copy / move images between Catalogs easily, in order to put them into a 'proper' Catalog later?
