I agree with this proposal most. Not over-specific, and not too granular as well.
General, Plugins, Bug reports and Feature requests are a must IMO.

But I would definitely miss also the sections Show Off and Tips and tricks. Posts belonging here are also very easy classifiable - they are very specific and different from the above four.

Group system specific bugs into one subforum is a good idea IMHO. Each thread can be labeled according to OS, for easy orientation.

my 2 cents.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE as few sub-forums as possible!!!

The Bibble forum had so many posts in "wrong" sub-forums that a cat (especialy Bibble the cat  ) could not find it's kittens in it any more (that's a Dutch saying in fact. Don't know if something similar exists in English, but I'm sure you understand  ).

And as this board is very well moderated, I fear that those moderators would have to move threads to the correct sub-forum all the time.

So again: if it has to be; please as few sub-forums as possible. I already read suggestions of over 10. I feel a shiver down my spine.

My suggestion?
- General
- Plugins
- FAQ

But I prefer... NONE  .
Yes, none would be best, but if it's gotta be then only a few. I've avoided forums with too numerous subforums for just that reason. You finally find a forum with what might have some info on what you're looking for, apply for membership, get approved, find the proper forum, try to figure out the proper subforum, then get told oh no you're in the wrong forum, when it's all the same people visiting all the subforums. It's like going to an office with cubicles and navigating your way through, sitting in a cubicle until someone comes along to offer advice to get told your in the wrong cubicle. You head to the proper cubicle and eventually the same person sits down and offers advice. You look around closely to notice that it's actually the same cubicle that you were in before but you came in through a different door.

This comes very close to that what I've in my mind. Bug reports could be a sticky just pointing to a dedicated web site, Feature requests could stay as it is right now with the wishlist-for-future-versions thread.

good list, although i would consolidate more.. "General", "System specific", "Bug Reports" and "Feature Requests" into one. because those are heavily intertwined, and quite often one leads to the other. better ask people to use a thread-title to include things like this.. [bug] - [feature] - [linux] - [mac] etc.. also the good old [solved] tag is something that should be used more often.

not-public Plugin Development should be kept elsewhere, just as it is now.

so my list goes like this:

AfterShotPro Discussions
AfterShotPro Plugins
AfterShotPro ShowOff
AfterShotPro Tips and Tricks

+1 (dearly needed me thinks to cut down on redundant threads that bury the same issues over and over again)
Bibble since 2004. Aftershot until 2020. From then on darktable.

Thx.
But the bad thing about sub-forums is some people tend to post in the wrong sub-forum, and in some forums I have visited, the moderators tend to get extremely nasty about having to move posts. Not good public relations!

If we are to get sub-forums in this new ASP-Bibble forum, then it's only fair to add sub-forums in some of the other forums. Right, administrators? The PaintShop Pro forum would be the first place to start after the new ASP-Bibble sub-forums are up and running.

Actually from the sheer amount of postings I'd say the Video Studio should have a few sub-forums.

You're right! "Discipline" is requires among each of us. We shouldn't be offended if the moderator puts some structure in some threads. We all tend to debate & deviate from the main subject. It's nature being. But it's in our own interest if there is a good structure in the forum & stick to the original topic of the thread. (For example, If you need an information about an issue with a specific OS, it's handy not having to browse a 35 pages thread where people debate about noise reduction for 22 pages).
I think that it's up to us to keep an eye on what we are doing.

That sounds reasonable. But please do not go overboard in subforums like the bibblelabs forums. There is no need for a separate plugins board WITH it's own subforum.

I may be one of the few who actually like this board better that the one at bibblelabs... sorry!

That would be nice...
Including a collection of links to stuff like: http://product.corel.com/help/AfterShot ... /index.htm and the plugins page.
