I am a very minimal amateur user of Video Studio. It seems as if I purchased X3 just a few months ago and now X4 is available. Is is possible to purchase an 'upgrade' because I cannot justify the cost of buying a new version.

In fact, X4 was released just on a year ago. But yes, there is an upgrade price which you will find on the Corel.com website.

If you did very minimal work with VS I'd have to ask if you would really benefit from upgrading. If you just want too that's fine, but don't think you have too just because the newest version is out.
