Problems with my Audio samples

Post by e_a_g_l_e_p_i »

Hello,
I have VideoStudeo Pro X4 Ultimate and every time I try to put a sample audio clip (.mpa) cause the program to freeze and got to not responding right away. I called Support yesterday and when we tried it of course it worked fine but as soon as I hung up and tried it again every time it went to not responding the minute I drag a .mpa to the audio timeline.

I can import a mp3 from my saved audio files on my computer and it works fine. It seems that it is just the .mpa sample files. Has anyone had this issue?? and if there is a fix I would appreciate it.

If not I guess I will call Corel Support again in the next few days.

Thanks
BrianCee

the solution to your problem is simple - convert you mpa files to wav or mp3 - since there are known issues with some mp3 codecs best option is to only use wav's

The are the samples that came with VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate, why would they put audio files in the software that had known issues?
How would I find where they are installed on my system??

Hi

I don’t know why you should be having problems, I have run through a few sample clips without problems, I am using the original X4 version not the Ultimate.

There are two patches to update Video Studio, I assume relevant for the ultimate version.

--------------------------------
I would also manually update Direct X, the manual approach has cured some problems with VS.
Yes I know windows updates should do the trick but the manual install seems to help.
As far as I know this is the latest version.

File locations
The sample library clips are located on your hard drive, right click a clip and select properties, the file name indicates the location.
Then use "locate on computer"

Smart Sound
Can you select the Auto Music icon below the preview screen, does this work ok, just a thought!!!

I did as you suggested and installed the service pack 2 for VideoStudio Pro and that didn't change anything the .mpa still do not work. when I try to open one of the mpa's in videostudio pro it freezes and not responding. I spent an hour on the phone with Corel support and they narrowed it down to when videostudio pro opens a mpa file it is a codec problem. he updated my codecs but the only audio problem I have is when opening a mpa file in videostudio pro.

I was going to convert the mpa to wav but videostudio pro wouldn't allow me to save them into the same folder, which is the smaples folder.

Any other suggestions??

Also I did download the directx update from the link that you gave me but it asked me where to uncompress the files so I created a folder on my desktop so I knew where it was. I looked in it and there are 157 cab achives... HOW do I install it?

Thanks

Hi

Direct x Install

From the extracted files locate DXSETUP.exe

Do you have problems with using the smart sound files and auto music???????

I spend another hour with Corel support and he took over my computer ( which I almost never let them ) this time I let him and he installed some klite codec pack and did a clean boot and narrowed it down to videosudio Pro x4 Ultimate and Windows Media Player.

Whenever I try to use a wpa file it causes videostudio pro to freeze and not responding, it also makes default ime ( windows media player ) not responding in task manager.

When he got done he said he put everything back as it was.. well when I rebooted, several ofther programs started to freeze as well, they were fine before this videostudio pro problem.

I did a restore back to before he did anything and that didn't help. I can see a fresh install of Windows 7 coming and then reinstalling all my software.

However if anyone has any ideas I am willing to listen.

You gave me a list of links for codecs, what will that do for me and how do I tell if I already have most of them installed already???

Please keep in mind I have Win 7 32 bit so please don't suggest anything for other OS's... this whole thing is making me sick!!!!!!!!!!

I wioshed I NEVE bought any of the Corel products I did, my system was running great before them
