Re: VS X4: Rendering DVD problem
Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean by an .mst file. Is that supposed to be a video file? As far as I can find, it is a variant of the Microsoft installer file .msi... So please tell us more about what camcorder you were using (not just Sony), and what editing you did.

Re: VS X4: Rendering DVD problem
Sorry, typing mismatch. The Sony HD camera produces MTS-files (an AVCHD file format)

Hi
Can you please give us more information regarding your video files properties, from the edit timeline right click a clip and select properties, what are they? If you wish copy the window and save as an image, then attached the image to your post.
Can you tell us more information regarding your workflow.
When you say “rendering to DVD” are you referring to a standard DVD or burning a HD DVD.
From the edit timeline what options did you choose from Share Create Disc – DVD, AVCHD, or Bluray.?
If Bluray, do you have a bluray burner fitted to your pc?
--------------------------
From the edit timeline are you able to select Share Create Video file then choose your output file DVD, AVCHD or Bluray, does this render process complete successfully.

Videotype: H.264 Video, Upper field first. 702 frames. 24 Bits, 1440x1080, 16:9. Framespeed 25000 frames/sec. Variable Video bitrate (max. 16000 kbps). Dolby Digital Audio. 13847840 samples. 48000 Hz, 5.1 channels. No layer. Bitrate audio 44 kbps.
The way I render: Go to step 3 Share (I have the Dutch version). Choose "Make disk" followed by DVD. No menu. Disk size to be written is about 3 Gb. Finally I choose the option: Create Disk Image. The Disk where the image is written to has over 1,5 Tb free space.

Re: VS X4: Rendering DVD problem
After choosing "Create Videofile" a good MPEG4 file was created. Importing this file as a new project and choosing "create disc" I managed to produce a correct working .iso file.
Does anyone now if the quality of the video is adversely affected by first creating a mpeg4 and after this creating a DVD disc?

As far as I know the quality of the created mpeg4 will be the same with the created DVD, provided you will be using that same mpeg4 file to create the DVD.

Re: VS X4: Rendering DVD problem
First off, and AVCHD files -- which your camcorder produces -- is already an mpeg-4 file, albeit a high definition one.
Second, I am a little bit confused why you are producing another mpeg-4 file from it and then using it to make a DVD. Is it a standard definition mpeg-4? Do you have some other use for it apart from making a DVD?
If your only purpose is to make a DVD, then it would make more sense to convert your original AVCHD to mpeg-2 since by international standard, mpeg-2 is the only format which can be used to make a standard definition video DVD (apart from some archaic use of mpeg-1).

Re: VS X4: Rendering DVD problem
The reason to create a mpeg4-movie was just a guess. I just was looking for a alternative way to get a working dvd. I am a bit frustrated that VS X4 obviously doesn't have the intelligence (or at least a good errorhandling that informs users how they can solve their problem or misconfigurated system) to render HD movies automatically to a good working DVD. First you´re working several hours / evenings to produce a nice video. Than you have to wait several hours just to get an unsaying error.
