Saveing files is now way slower and shows movie

Post by happydog500 »

Here is what I've been doing for years. I record a program with my computer. When I get two recorded, I take each episode and "multi trim video' and cut out the commercials. I do it for each one. Now I have two episodes without commercials I open VS and 'add video to timeline.' I do that for each one and now have two shows i save together. I watch them as a 90 minute movie every two weeks instead of each week 45 minute.

For several years, when I save the video "same settings as the video.." it saves it pretty quick. Just as you would count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,.... until 100%. The screen is blank when it does this. This has worked fine for years. Resonantly, without changing anything, when I save the file, it goes really slow and the video shows up on the screen when saving. In stead of taking maybe 100 seconds, it takes hours. It never had the video show up and go so slow.

What happened?

Thank you,
Chris.

Hi Chris

Sorry for the delay in replying, guess your post was overlooked ??????????

The black screen during fast render is quite normal, slow renders does allow the program to display the frames.
The difference in fast to slow is the problem as it has worked satisfactory for years.

Ok
What program are you using to capture the video and has anything changed in the creation of the original video files, Maybe using different properties to the earlier days.?

Are you sure that the original properties are the same as the rendered properties?

Place both types in the timeline, right click each and select properties, what are they?
Are they the same?

I capture with a comproGold TV Tuner Card (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hmkstMD84Y It's all the same. This computer is not on the internet so direct x has not been updated in at least a year.
How does it switch from fast render to slow render?

Chris.

Hi Chris

Render times will vary depending on what you are creating.

If the original video file is Mpeg2 and you are rendering to Mpeg2 and using the same properties then render will be quick. If the bit rate changes from 8000 to 6000kbps then render will slow.

If you render from Mpeg2 to WMV then it will be slow.

I asked earlier but you don’t give any information as to the properties of your video files, both video files before and after render
Please confirm that they are the same.

Also are the current captures using that same properties as the older ones, I suppose I am asking if you have changed the capture properties, maybe to improve quality.?
