Crash when opening higlight image archive

Post by Andy W »

Hello,
i have a menu with some buttons. But they should not be highlighted itself (default) but i want to use highlight images. But when i open archive of highlight images, software crashes every time. I have the german software called "DVD-PowerTools2".

Any idea or is this error well known? I have used this function some months ago, but had a complete new installation of all software on my PC since that time. Is a new installation of DVD Workshop necessary, does it help?

Thank you for help and tips.

You probably need a Plugin that will allow Windows to interact with your program. I have similar problems with common MPEG2 files and the only way to correct it is to buy an MPEG2 Plugin that is compatible with windows media player. I work around it by letting the file open within the software package that I'm using to work with the files. Mr. Bill's at work with with our wallets as usual.

Don't know about the plugin thing but just wanted to mention that my fresh install has the exact same problem - workshop crashes everytime I open the highlight folder.

If you remove (move to a different location) the highlight files from their folder (C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD Workshop 2\Contents\Highlight Image\) you can open the library ok. You can then import a single highlight image - any more than one and the programme crashes again. If you only need one image this might help you Andy.

Seems like a software bug to me though.

I had the same problem, DVD workshop crashed each time I opened the highlight images archive. It didn't make any difference how many times I uninstalled are reinstalled the software, I always had the same problem.

I came by the solution by mistake, I had installed spy sweeper on my PC and some weeks later I tried to reinstall DVD workshop. During the installation, spy sweeper informed me that dvd workshop installation had made several entries in the windows registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce). On investigation in the registry these entries showed that several files needed regestering with windows, so before opening dvd workshop, even though the installation didn't ask, I restarted windows.

Once back into windows I started dvd workshop and the highlight image archive didn't crash. I then installed the DVD Workshop patch available from http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm.

Hope this works for you.
