X3 error just installed and X4?

Post by Kay »

I had no idea that version 4 was out, I just bought version 3( Corel Paintshop Photo pro x3)! So I am not too happy, I am trying to use this with my photography classes. I thought x3 was the newest version because in my version (Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 ultimate) it had a banner advertising to get the new version x3, when I do I find out there is an x4????

I am waiting to hear form someone at corel about that.

Anyhow I installed this a few days ago. I clicked check for updates and it said that there was an update for my version corel paint shop photo pro x3. I update my version and now I can't do anything, I can load a photo but cannot re-size it. I get this error:

------- Command Execution Failed -----------
Command Name: JGLDeformObject
Error Text: Not enough memory to complete this operation; close one or more documents or applications and try again. If this does not correct the problem, you may need to adjust your memory settings or work on a smaller document.

I have been with Paint shop pro since version 6 with Jasc. Now I feel lost and ripped off. And what is with this error? I need a version to work with raw data from a Canon DSLR and now I have to load up my Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 ultimate to resize my photos for school. This really stinks. :x

Canon provides it's own RAW converter, Digital Photo Professional. It's better than the one provided with PSP (faster, more accurate, allows you to use the picture style you shot with, etc...). It can resize, crop, tilt, convert to Jpeg, convert to Tiff for PSP to use, convert to B&W, sharpen, saturate, fix w/b, etc...

Did you buy X3 from Corel.com or from another site/location? If from Corel.com there's a 30 day money back guarantee so you could request to get X4 rather than X3. If you bought from a retailer you'll need to contact them. X4 takes less than half the time to install if you decide to go that route.

With X3, you may find that you'll need to uninstall then reinstall it. Then install the updates manually. From what I can tell, PSP just grabs the latest patch and applies it. Problem is that the patch is written assuming that you've already installed all but the latest update. At any rate, I'd advise going to Corel's website and installing the patches manually from there, 1-5, in order, restarting the computer when prompted. http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... pid=800007 You will run the installers without opening X3 at all.

For the out of memory error specifically I've used a small 3rd party utility to help with that. The problem is X3 doesn't release memory as it should. http://www.majorgeeks.com/CleanMem_d5993.html It's not the easiest thing to get set up, but if you set it to clean your memory every 5 minutes you'll likely see an improvement over your entire computer.

Thank you for your help! I did as you suggested and called corel support and am returning the x3 and purchased the x4.

Thank you I will take a look at AfterShot Pro. I already now purchased X4 and had no trouble installing and using. I have had Paint Shop Pro Since 6.0 Jasc, I just love the program!
