Menu help please

I am trying to create menu(s) for an instructional dvd and i would like to know how to set up the menus. my problem I am trying to solve is to have a main menu with the title of the program. then just below that a "play all" text and click button. Then I would like to have a second menu that will go to a menu option "lessons". when I would click the "lessons", it would go to the sub menu and the "chapters" or "lessons" would be available to click on and go direct to the lesson desired. I am unable to clearly determine from the help file or my users manual how to get this to work. help and user manual both show a clip on main menu the click to select two or three "chapters" but then for the 2nd clip it show only the main menu. would it be that I have to have the same clip twice with the play all being linked to the "completed training clip" then have the second menu click on a duplicate clip with thumbnail chapters to select lesson desired? Maybe I cant see the forest for the trees but for the life of me I cant figure out how it should be done.
