Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
Hello all - I am enjoying using VS Pro X4 but hugely frustrated with the render speed. Sooo.... ...I bought a GPU that supports CUDA in order to be able to use GPU acceleration for encoding but no joy. Any idea on what diagnostics I can do. Tried contacting Corel support but no joy (responded to ask me to do phone co-op, and so after waiting 30 mins on the phone decided to beg for help from the community instead.
Hugely frustrated and any help appreciated...!
GPU is an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GT 430.

Can we assume you have enabled hardware encoder acceleration under Preferences > Performance?

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
I have the option there but it is greyed out and I can't select it.
It works fine in my other video software though.
I just bought and installed X4 and then the SP2 patch and am using Nvidia drivers 266.58 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1.
Any ideas?
Thanks much.

Thanks Ken - like the other poster, the option is greyed out.
System config shows that I have latest CUDA drivers etc.
Any help appreciated but from other posts I'm wondering if I have to give up on Corel?

I have had an interesting response from Corel Customer Support.
"Hardware Acceleration is designed for video cards that does not support cuda. Since your video card supports cuda, this option is greyed out."
Hmm!

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
AFAIK, iIf its greyed out, this means that VS X4 *Does NOT* recognizes your CUDA GPU..but let me double check on that. I'll update this as soon as I get a response from our developers.
Thanks!
Update: I updated my previous response, since I got a clarification regarding the hard acceleration and CUDA.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
It would also be useful to know what (if any) are the criteria for using the GPU.
E.g. if like in my case I have an i7 3.4Ghz CPU, does VSP decide this is better than using the GPU?
Can this be configured? There seem to be some options in a couple of the .ini files.
The reason I ask is that if VSP has recognised my cuda capable GPU, I can see no evidence that it is being used.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
Hello countpierre,
Sorry for the confusion and here's the response that I got.
"hardware encode acceleration will be enabled when the VGA card is CUDA, VRAM over 512MB and OS is above Vista." so there could be some problem with the driver that was installed on your computer.
I got a feedback that the ASUS Driver is currently at version 267.85 while yours is "285.62" I would suspect that you downloaded the 285.62 driver from NVIDIA and not from ASUS. Can you try and install the driver provided by ASUS, since there could be a reason why ASUS driver is only at version 267.85.
You can download the ASUS Driver at http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVID ... /#download and download the driver dated 2011.05.04.
Let me know what happens.
Thanks!

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
Not sure why I would need to download a driver from ASUS, when the card is an NVIDIA OEM for HP.
Also the download refers to a GT430 NOT GT545. I looked for GT545 on ASUS and drew a blank.
I tried it anyway and No difference.
Reverting back to NVIDIA driver 285.62.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
A question:
Has anyone got this to work with a CUDA enabled graphics card??
I am currently persuing this with Corel Support, but so far no joy.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
It is certainly enabled on an i3 which has an NVidia Ge-Force GT330 card, and encoding seems a good deal faster on it. It is also enabled on the Quad which is in my Profile which uses an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card, and it appears to work on that too, though slower than on the i3.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
I had this problem using Windows 7 64 bit.
This resolved it for me....hope it works for you too.
copy the cuDAC32.dll located on my pc in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4" folder
into the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder
I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 470 and it now processes the videos at 21% instead of 1% prior to moving the dll.
25% of previous process speed.

Re: Can't get VS Pro X4 to recognise my CUDA card?
I find that for video game footage in particular, turning on hardware acceleration for rendering with Nvidia hardware introduced artifacts in the resulting files.
I have 2 main machines I use. One has 16 gig ram, AMD X4 965 and a 1 gig Nvidia GTX 460 based card. That machine allows me to select Hardware Acceleration.
The other has 24 gig ram, Intel i7 980 Extreme Edition, 3 gig GTX 580 card. The option for Hardware Acceleration is grayed out. Both use the exact same version of the driver, both using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
Go figure.
Thankfully, with multi-core improvements in X5, it appears I've gained rendering performance increases anyway, all without any degradation to image quality.
I'd rather have it go slower and get higher quality anyway.
Just thought the info might be helpful.
