Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Used audacity to convert an mp3 selection to wav for use in my PRO 2X project and it plays perfectly as an audio clip. However, when I switch to "project" mode, it skips in several places. I've tried deleting it and starting over, but no luck.
Could I have messed something up during the audacity process? I've done it before and haven't had problems. I REALLY want to use this piece of music in my project.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
I think I may have solved my own problem. I noticed that where it consistently started skipping was on a photo of a train station I had downloaded off the web. It was probably copyrighted. When I deleted the photo, there was no more skipping. At least it's working!

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Oh brother! Went to render my project and the music in question does not play on the rendered product. When I right-click on the music track, it says it's microsoft wav. format, so what is wrong? However, the track in the rendered version is half/black and half/white and says the track doesn't exist! I really need this track as the ending of my project.
Please help.
Please help.

Does the same thing happens when use the original MP3 file? What if you use a different file converter like SUPER?
I also notice that you are using VS X2 on Windows 7, VS X2 is technically not compatible with Windows 7, that can also be another factor that you need to consider.

You may want to try the trial version of VS X4, you can download it at http://pnoy.me/coreltrials
You may also want to update the codecs on your computer. Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Ohy good grief - I didn't realize Pro 2x wasn't compatible with Windows 7. I just got this new computer several months ago so that I could keep up with this video editing stuff! Old computer was Windows XP.
I can't even imagine starting all over with this project. It's a 38 minute DVD of a recent Med cruise we took with 7 other people, and I've combined their stills and several short video clips from a camcorder, along with my digital stills and 2 short video clips from my still camera. It looks SO GOOD in the preview window - can't believe I won't be able to get it onto a DVD.
So you think I should try to download the trial version of X4 and start again? I really want to take the surest route here - I've invested so many days already.

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Just tried to import the MP3 version of the music, and I got a message "unable to open - file format mismatch". Back to square one.

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Hi flashgun
First download the trial version of Video Studio.
You will be able to open your exiting X2 project using X4
However I would suggest you first make a copy to use with X4, you can save the project in X4 to use in X2 should you wish.
But the trial should run the X2 project.
------------------------------------------------
I suspect your video file is at fault, as its downloaded from the internet it may be using non-standard frame sizes.
However a little confused as to whether you downloaded a Mp3 or a video containing Mp3????
If video.......
Using one of the original video files, Right click and select properties what are they?
As a test use X2
Start a new project
Add one video clip to the timeline
Go to Share Create Sound File, this will make a Wav of the project
A thumbnail will be placed in the library. Play the clip.
If ok add to the timeline-mute the video clip.

Re: Converted mp3 to wav. audio skipping
Thanks Trevor. I'm going to upgrade to Pro X4, but I finally did get a good dvd, after uploading patches and codecs, and doing a few work-arounds.
I just never gave it a thought that I was using a different operating system (Windows 7 instead of Windows XP) - I was just so excited to have a new computer with so much ooomph!
But I'm very pleased with the end product - 40 minutes that look highly polished and well-edited. My neighbors can't believe it. Makes me feel quite proud!

Hi flahagan
Nice to hear that you have had success, give the trial X4 a run.
Its just a learning curve, next time it will be better still.
I am still running XP mainly because the older programs are not compatible with W7, suppose at some time I will have to conform.
