I registered my copy on Jan 18, 2012 and received my registration confirmation e-mail the same date. I have the registration code. It is entered in ASP and the Application is running just fine. I didn't get any link in the e-mail.

When I logged back into my Corel account just a few moments ago, an entirely different registration code appears in the HTML dialog. It is very suspect as a good part of the code is comprised of extended strings of zeros. Nonetheless, ASP still works fine and checks for updates just fine and properly shows the registration information (my name and original registration code).

Hi There,

I experience two problems with registering my Aftersho Pro licence. And they are both Solved.

1. Registering the license key on-line.
Solution: This can't be done via the website. You have to log a support call with corel and ask them to do it manually. This may be fixed in the future.
2. Having to enter the license key every time to run aftershot pro.
Solution: run AfterShot pro with "sudo" ie as root.

I hope this helps me as it's taken me a while to get these things sorted.

Regards

My registration process was a comedy show. First I'm shown a 40% off price for AfterShot, but when I go back later to make the purchase, I'm shown the full price 'cause suddenly the shop page notices I'm in Australia. After hacking deep into the mainframe I got the sale price back, and was asked to register. I've been here before, so I signed in with my email and password, but was told my email didn't exist. Strange, but OK - I'll create a new account. I was told that my email address was already in use. So it's a quantum problem, my email doesn't exist but is already registered. Sort of cool when you think about it. I had to submit a lost-password request to get my password sent to that email address that didn't exist.

And then to get my Vignette plugin, I had to register. Wait, didn't I do that when I placed the order? Well sure, I'll do it again, I guess all my mainframe hax discombobulated the Corel systems. I signed in without trouble. Finally, something worked! Mostly - I didn't notice the link, and actually registered again (for what, the fourth? Fifth time?) to finally get my download. Whups.

And then I had to register for the forums, using a far more secure password than I did to buy the software. Not exactly sure how that makes any sense, but OK.

But, seriously, the first error message should have probably said "wrong password", and buying the software online should automatically register my software, and I mean come on, maybe include the Vigne plugin too? And the forum's not tied into the main database? Even I can cobble up some SQL queries to work that one out, and I SUCK.

So yeah, the registration process just might need a little tweaking. =)

THAT IS NOT A SOLUTION!!!!
NEVER EVER RUN REGULAR APPLICATIONS AS ROOT!!!

Check the permissions of your ~/.AfterShot directory and the directories under ~ /.config.
Make sure they are owned by your regular user id and that you have write access.

cheers

Thanks afx,

I've been an Unix/Linux Admin for almost 20 years so I understand the risks. I'm just glad I don't have to enter the serial number in every time I start Aftershot Pro.
