Welcome to Bibble users

Post by OldRadioGuy »

First, as someone new to the rebranded Bibble product, I welcome the Bibble users who are joining this forum. I'm sure those of us who have been around because we have used other Corel applications -- mostly PaintShop Pro -- will learn a lot from your questions and input.

Second, about the suggestions for subforums for AfterShot Pro. I'm not sure that's a realistic expectation at this stage of the game. I looked around the Bibble Labs forum -- dealing with only one product -- and noted there were sub-sections for specific Bibble topics. This Web Board has 15 product forums plus another 13 (sub?) forums that relate to use (mostly) of the products in some way. At the time I write this, I see only 13 topic threads in the AfterShot Pro forum, which was added just a few days ago. If you go to the index of this board and look at some of the other forums, you'll see this User to User Web Board is not structured the same way as the Bibble forum.

Third, about support here. It will come from other users, not Corel. There are some very helpful users on the Corel forums, and from time to time there'll be a Corel employee who posts useful information. Posting operational problems here will help inform other users, but they should also be reported directly to Corel support. That direct, personal support you may have experienced with Bibble at their forum is not available here.

Over the years I have used numerous very good audio, photo and video software products from small, innovative companies. But if the software was good, it was gobbled up by Adobe, Corel or Magix. The best photo editor I have now is published by a German firm that's a two-person shop. A published report I saw a few months ago indicated the company has about 5,000 customers. Their firm's support forum is often visited by one of the two partners, and an email question gets a response within 24 business hours. But the company does not have the resources to design a modern-looking user interface nor to properly market the product. It's a likely target for one of the big software giants. One of the first things that would change would be the personal support.

I don't like the big companies' approach to support, but that's the reality of most industries.

Just to add a comment.
I was involved with an organisation, as a director, that had a forum. Once office staff became involved with users on the forum it bacame very time consuming and very political at times. Legal actions also came about by miss read posts.

To have Corel directly involved would become a nighmare for Corel. I'm sure that Corel keeps an eye on this forum. It's in their interest to do so. But once they jump on board officially then Pandoras box would become wide open.

From my experience there are enough 'experts' here to help with most questions. From time to time those closer to the top of the tree also have input.

I've had reason to phone Corel a few times for issues. On all occassions I was dealt with promptly and had issues resolved.

thanks for the welcome. i'm very new to Bibble, started using it just this past September. i've never used in Corel products before (unless you can't WordPerfect from eons ago). i really love Bibble, but i know nothing of ASP, yet i am being optimistic. tonight i am going to try to download and install ASP and see how it goes.

One thing that is very different is that there was a very active plugin forum on the Bibble board.
This served as the announcement, bug fix, feedback for just the plugins. The plugin devs posted in there and their users posted back.
Trying to fit that into a single board will be a nightmare.
Especially as ASP has dropped the plugin manager, so now the board is the only way for us to find out about plugin updates.
I would suggest that now is the absolute best time to create new sub forums.

Why wait for it to become unmanageable before fixing it when creating a sub forum is so simple?

I agree about the sub forums but there is an AfterShot plugin page here:

I agree that sub-forms don't really fit the Corel U2U Boards..... fortunately, stickys and announcements on the top of each forum cover a lot of ground.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

you are correct there is a page for plugins, which is the same as the one on bibblelabs.com.
but also exactly the same as at Bibblelabs, it does not allow for discussion or subscription or announcement etc etc
That is what the forum is used for.

For the record - both Bibble and Corel U2U use exactly the same forum software - phpbb
So both support both single and multi level forums in a trivially easy manner.

Welcome to Bibble users.

I sometimes go to the Wacom forums for help when my tablet does weird things. I've seen the numerous subforums there and I for one think they are somewhat confusing. Let's say you've got an issue that you don't know what the problem is. Is it hardware or software? They each have their own subforum.

Aside from this forum and subforums, Corel also has forums for Corel Draw, Painter, Painter Essentials, and the Word Perfect forums. There's lots of forums.

Full ACK.
A Plugin subboard is definitely needed.
Especially as ASP has dropped the plugin manager
Which plugin manager, there never was one ;-(
I would suggest that now is the absolute best time to create new sub forums.
Yes now before the clutter starts....

cheers

Thanks for the welcome. This looks like a nice forum, so I think i soon will feel at home here.

Regarding sub-forums, I am somewhere in the middle. Only one forum for ASP is too little, but as many as there are on the Bibble forum is too many. I think I can live with just two - ASP general and ASP plugins.

Hello to fellow Forum member and visitors!

Now that Corel has integrated Bibble into AfterShot Pro, and I've licensed the product, it is great to see this Forum thriving! I licensed and used Bibble Pro 4 and never opted to upgrade to BP5. Seeing Corel's release of AfterShot Pro is invigorating!

As Adobe has just launched their LR4 Beta and apparently abandoned any interest in supporting Windows XP, AfterShot Pro has a real opportunity to be considered by a vast user marketplace. And, the outstanding price point is likely to be a compelling factor for many.

Glad to be registered now on this Forum and I look forward to the information flow....

Best to all!

Corel was running a five day special for PSP X4 at $29.99. It just ended last night at Midnight Jan 20, 2012.
Also just a few weeks ago, the Ultimate Edition of PSP X4 was going for $39.99 or $49.99. I wouldn't be surprised to see those prices around by again.

Nonetheless, your suggestion for Bibble/AfterShot uses is a good one!
