Missing links to Corel Newsgroups

Post by Joelle »

Here I go again (and again and again).

Can anyone from Corel tell me what is so hard about reinstating the links to the cnews.corel.com newsgroups on the Corel website?

Yes, I know, newsgroups aren't that popular any more, blah blah blah, but they ARE with the people who use them, especially the Paint Shop Pro groups.

Corel are in need of some serious deaf aids as they're just not hearing/listening.

Cmon joelle you've been around long enough to know you are not talking to anyone from Corel on here - sure a couple of Corel employees post but in a private capacity not in a company representative way - they may have some contacts they can use but this forum is not the official way to contact Corel.

Yes, I know ...
I thought if I posted here too (have posted everywhere else I don't know how many times) someone from Corel, like Simone? might get fed up and do something about it.
Have tried Corel Your Way and Jen has passed the message on many times.
Have contacted Corel via the website and got a garbled response (quite a few actually, which didn't make any sense and appeared to be about something completely unrelated, then were declared 'closed').

Short of me flying to Ottawa (I am not THATdedicated) how does one talk to Corel.. grrr.

Some newsgroups haven't been active for years, others are very active.

I was under the impression that you worked for Corel, I must have got that wrong.

Working for Corel does not mean you know everything about Corel. I can point to quite a few examples of real people where this is the case. This becomes especially true in Tech Support.

Tech Support are there to sort out tech problems, not 'artistic' problems :-)
Cut & Paste answers aren't always the best.

I have been part of the Newsgroups, Paint Shop Pro, since the original Jacs web forums were closed and owe just about everything I know to generous posters there.
Of course tutorials and experimentation have had a part to play too. It's all part of the fun.
Newsgroups are MUCH more fun, and a lot easier to use, than web forums.
The cnews.corel.com>corel.PaintShopPro_Photography group run a photo challenge (lasting 2 weeks, where the winner sets the next challenge), I haven't seen one of those in the web boards.

I've been a part of those newsgroups Joelle, and "easier" is quite subjective. XD Though the looseness of newsgroups vs forums does show in many ways.

I beg to differ...

To access this forum I have to do a lot more clicking than for the newsgroups, which is permantently there, unless I unsubscribe.

When were you part of the groups? Not the PSP groups (unless you posted under another name of course), I would have spotted you there.:-)

Not if you set it up properly the first time you don't. Same with the newsgroup. And, yes, the PSP as well as the scripting newsgroup.

Please explain "set it up properly" :-)
I am sure you didn't mean to imply that my set up is not set up right ..
I have the Corel Web Boards on the Favourites link, what else should I be doing to make it easier?
On top of everything else, this board gets a bee in it's bonnet every so often and wants me log in, ignoring that I have 3 other tabs with the same board already open.

Apart from having a surplus "t" in my post, I am not changing any of what I said.
Using the web forum format is more cumbersome than using newsgroups :-)

I'm not asking you to change what you said. Being subjective means that it's individual, it's based on how you perceive easy or difficult. A large portion of that is how the site reacts to you.

Also "properly" depends on what you're trying to do. There is no "one way" and I was not attempting to imply there was, sorry for the confusion. So for what I was intending to do I have set it up "properly." The forums never ask me to log in if I'm already logged in so I don't experience that issue at all. And my browser signs me back in every time the forums do want me to sign in again.

The newsgroup format is annoying to me personally. I like to read almost every post so I can know what's going on (sometimes I skip ahead but end up going back and reading the posts later) so to have to click on each new message is annoying for me. Not to mention having to re-scroll through all of the replies to get to the actual new message as some place their messages under the quoted material while others put it at the top and still others don't quote at all so I can't even skip to the last message to read all of the others. Every now and again depending on whom I am getting my internet through (I do some light traveling) they might have a newsgroup port or site blocked where as I have never experienced the Corel forums being blocked.

I'm not trying to say one is better than the other.
