skier-hughes wrote:Sorry, but referring to another Jeff means nothing to me, if he's never been here before. I don't use Bibble/ASP I have never visited their forums, so the only Jeff I know is the Jeff I know, so saying of course not is really, quite rude, in my opinion.
Hmm, guess your definition of rude is a different one from mine ;-)
Perhaps instead of sending so many posts to the forums here, where absolutely nothing can be done about them, you send them directly to Jeff, who's going to sort it all out for you
Well,
if the mods would have made it more clear initially that they don't even have control over most basic things instead of saying, why change anything, it has always been done that way, no one would have bothered clamoring for a change.

cheers

Ok, on this forum we have
moderators, who moderate.
Admin who can make some changes to the board.
Corel, who have the overall say, can make all and any changes, respond extremely slowly to any feedback.

Hope that helps.

OK, so it's becoming more clear as to who can do what. Now, my question would be: Who should we direct the request for subforums to? Forgive me if I missed their name mentioned earlier in the thread.

Thank you.

Of course now that I see that, I realize it is blindingly obvious...I just never go searching for specific members on forums, so it didn't occur to use that search. In any case, now we all know who to pester.

BrianCee wrote:@ Hobgoblin - re the forum clock - I raised this very point over a week ago - it appears that for whatever reason the clock has to be set on the server which is not available to any of the volunteer admins and apparently has to be done by a Corel IT man in Taiwan ??? (or wherever it is now) . we asked for it to be put right and are still waiting.

As to anything happening on the old Bibble board, we urged Corel to do that - to re-badge those as Corel and maintain the present set up there and add ASP - the suggestion was not received very well although they are *considering* the options - do not stop breathing while you wait for a decision - you will not be around to hear it.
Brian,
Thanks and Thanks.

I'll try and hold my breath a few years longer, I've been doing that for about 70 years so a few more might be possible!

Hi
I am Trevor Andrew one of the administrators of the forum, it was I that created the ASP forum on the 12 Jan 2012, then I promptly went on vacation/holiday for a long weekend so was unaware of the vast numbers of new members and posts that were to descend on us.

When we create a new forum the usage and membership increases steadily, I don’t think anyone expected a migration of the Bibble forum to happen, the membership increased by over 200 since the 12th, approximately 100 of these have yet to post (Zero Posters).

With the membership came the posts, given that we moderate each new post the numbers must have been overwhelming to those left, had I known the problem was about to unfold I would have cancelled my holidays, and if you believe that then you will believe anything. I can only thank the moderators and admin for coping.

Please be patient when first posting so as to give us time to approve the posts, all in the aid of reducing Spam.
----------------------------------
Registration to the forum is straight forward, an e-mail is sent out in order for you to activate your account, if you do not receive this then most likely it is sitting in your junk folder, or has been incorrectly input. If you know of any persons having problems registering then yes you can bother me.
The Inactive Registration list has increased somewhat indicating that some have not replied to the e-mail, I will send out a reminder today.
---------------------------------
The question Sub Forums
Well I just don’t know, I do know that Corel have been informed of your feelings and that we as admin are awaiting their reply, at least that’s the impression I get after catching up with my e-mails.
-------------------------------
Forum Time
The clock has been faulty by about 7.5 hrs since the 8th January when Corel took the forum down for maintenance purposes, Corel are aware of the problem, but as admin we can do nothing to correct this.
-------------------------------

All in all its been a busy week (for some anyway) please be patient.
There have been 51 topics and 562 posts, you are certainly a busy lot.

In which case I'll apologise to new members for saying Corel had made the new forum, cheers Trevor, must remember to pop up to Leeds and get my own back soooooooooon

Thanks Trevor

Hope you enjoyed your holiday and are well rested to deal with the onslought of us lovely Bibblers. I do hope a simple set of sub-fora can be sorted out so that we do not need to hunt too much when seeking advice.

It is certainly different from Bibblelabs - big software needs to have better organisation but 4 different gorups (Mods, Admins, Corel managament and IT in Taiwan, are there more...) of people to run a forum does seem like overkill.

On a slightly different subject, I saw that Corel has a survey monkey survey that could be used for feedback - is this a good way to get reactions from real people when you have a problem?

Thanks again
Andrew from Addis

In my experience (Beta testing) there is a response from "real people" only on rare occasions - I suppose when your bug coincides with something they are working on or is considered serious enough. It is too bad because it would be nice to know if your suggestions/requests were considered for future development. I've had a few requests for follow-up from ASP and PSP but don't expect much reaction now that ASP has been launched.

Thanks, Trevor.

That confirms what some of us have been suspecting. We kind of hit you guys like a ton of bricks. Yes, we are an active community.

Hi,
Can we have the "Search" tool set by default for searching in the ASP section only. Then the "Advanced search" where we can search within any Corel software if we want.
Thx.

No - what would people who use other software do then for a general search - as it is now 'Search' searches all forums - if you only want to search an individual forum then click on "Advanced Search" and there you can select the one forum you want to search
