Re: Forum Structure
+1 vote for subforums. ;)
If you don't know how to arrange subforums, ask the Bibble guys, they already made an excellent forum here:
http://support.bibblelabs.com/forums/
Cheers.

Re: Forum Structure
We know how to create sub-forums. But it is a decision for Corel management, and they are taking their time thinking about it...

Re: Forum Structure
Hi Trevor, I'm not totally sure how to interpret this. I'm a long time Bibble user (7+ years) AND forum reader. Pretty much every day I check the Bibble forum, but I'm not a big poster. Having subfolders is like having filters built in to the posts. For myself, my priority is to read the "Linux - Discussion", "Plugins", "Bugs" and time permitting, move down my priority list of topics. Currently, I look at the Aftershot forum and it's just a jumbled up mix.Trevor Andrew wrote:Hi
When we create a new forum the usage and membership increases steadily, I don’t think anyone expected a migration of the Bibble forum to happen, the membership increased by over 200 since the 12th, approximately 100 of these have yet to post (Zero Posters).
Please add the subfolders. It helps in reading as well as posting.

These forums are becoming stale already. Important posts are way down the list for new people to find.

Re: Forum Structure
More than 2 months and not even a standard *!*!* 'answer' from Corel....
What can we expect from the REAL bugs/improvements about the actual product if THEY don't give a *** to a simple COMMUNITY DRIVEN FORUM???
Thats what we paid for?
It is really sucks.

Re: Forum Structure
Apparently the subforum-pro's believe that their vote is much more important than those who see no reason to have subforums. The latter do not cry-out as loud as the former, that's true. Some even want to have their "vote" count for two
.
For me, the structure is perfect as it is.
I login, see the new or changed posts with a red square in front and, depending on the title, I decide to read them or not and subscribe to the post if I think it to be important for me. In the end, I mark all posts as read (one click) before I leave the board. So that next time, I see the new or changed posts with a red square in front, etc. Quite difficult with subforums.
If I am in search for an issue... I use the search function. All topics appear, old and new.
I am still convinced that subforums only lead to post topics in a subforum where they do not belong. See the Bibble forum where one finds numerous topics in subforums that have no relation with the topic whatsoever.
With a big chance that I never see them in the first place as I have no intention to open ALL subforums.
If one looks on this board only: see the many posts that are about ASP in another "Popular product" subforum

Re: Forum Structure
+100 (one for each time I've visited and then wacked my head on the desk in frustration after trying to find something and contribute effectively.)
Aren't there piles of open source solutions out there? How many PS, LR, gamer-related community driven forums are out there on the web and actually DRIVEN by the community. We're populating this forum.
Why don't WE stop complaining about corel and just start our own forum/wiki? I personally prefer the wiki approach for bugs/solutions since we tried something similar with mediawiki at work. A forum works well for a chronological dialog but turn into a real headache when the answers become scattered and tough to find.
A well hashed out solution may already exist rather than piggy backing on this forum that we all 'love' so much. It's not too surprising to see so many posts still on the old bibble boards. Any web admins out there and other volunteers willing to pitch in?

Re: Forum Structure
An automatic e-mail is sent to all new users who have been members of the forum for three months and have not made any posts since registering - asking them to make a post or their account will be deleted - this is to avoid the build up of hundreds of members who never make a post - which we were getting close to at one time and to ensure that the reason for non-posting is a choice by the user and not because they have not seen the registration e-mails.
A deleted user (as opposed to a banned user) may register again at any time, so being deleted is not a major problem.
Once a post has been made the user may if they so wish not post again for years but we have proof that their registration was completed.
