What I am about to describe worked fine a few months ago.
I created an iso file using DVD MF Pro 7. Then I tried to burn the iso to a DVD+R DL. Burn.now starts by saying it's checking the media and then hangs. It is then impossible to kill Burn.now using task manager and even a forced shutdown of the computer does not work - it just stays forever with the little circle going round and the message "shutting down". You have to press the power button and hold to close the computer down and start again.
I did several experiments to try and find what is causing this but did not come to any conclusion other than an incompatibility with Windows 7 possibly. In the end, after forcibly shutting down my machine several times I managed to corrupt windows 7 and it took me a couple of hours to rescue my system.
Single layer DVDs are burned OK from iso.
Also Windows 7 built-in DVD burner works fine on the same iso file that Burn.now dislikes so much, and I can burn OK to SL DVDs.
From now on I am going to use Windows 7 exclusively for the burning of iso files, to avoid any risk of corrupting my system.
I always create an iso file and never burn directly to disk to avoid wasting blank DVDs if the software hangs.
Anybody experienced the same issues?
Any ideas about overcoming this?
My suspicions are that DVD MF 7 pro is not fully compatible with Windows 7.
Another minor but annoying issue is that after a restart of my system the MF launcher always hangs on opening up the window and has to be killed by task manager and then works OK until the next restart.
Burn.now hangs burning ISO to DVD+R DL
Re: Burn.now hangs burning ISO to DVD+R DL
I have the same issue, except I'm using windows xp sp3. Are by any chance using a Sata DVD Recorder?
