Hi All,
I just purchased paintshop pro X4 and it seems that the RAW processing quality is always inferior to the free Nikon ViewNX. Frequently, I can see that by viewing at 100 percent, corel raw processor loses fine details and frequently exhibits moire in some finer areas such as eyelids.
Are there any settings that I need to change in Paintshop Pro to gain better quality RAW processing?
My camera is Nikon D300s. Right now I process the raw in viewNX then export to tiff and process in corel, which I'd like to avoid of course.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks All in advance.

Use your camera's RAW converter. It works, it's free, I assume you can output a Tiff or similar high dynamic file type. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Don't forget to have a look at AfterShot Pro.
It's an established product (ex Bibble with a long history) that may do everything that you want.
I don't use PSP anything like as much as I used to (although it is still a great product).

That is exactly what I do now, convert my raw in viewnx and edit on psp x4. It work but its not a very effective workflow. I suppose I can only wait for the next update.

I guess the truth of the matter is we all want one program that will do everything for us. Sorry but I don't know what it is. Especialy at Corel prices. I would rather have a few specialised programs than one all in one program that doesn't do a great job.
A weakness of PSP has always been its RAW ability.
I've used Bibble for sometime. Now with AfterShot Pro you can do your RAW conversion and jump right into PSP.

i agree the raw processing in PSP is poor. the colour is not great compared to aperture or lightroom even when using the default option with all of them.
one thing i would say is that with Nikon, they have an option called D-lighting, the changes the dynamic range to preserve shadow and highlight detail, and non of the programs appear to understand this.

The answer is to use Nikon's Capture NX2, with PSPX4 . NX2 will access all of th Nikon code including Active D-Lighting so is superb for Nikon raw files. It also has amazing selection controls based on Nik U-point technology. It is also quite easy to learn once you find your way around it. All done non-destructively so all your edit steps can be re-visited at any time. Images can be opened directly into PSP as 16bit images for any further work.
