Vuescan is indeed superb! And it supports J-Luc's plustek .... It will also happily scan my father's colour negatives and rescue them to colour digital images. I have been a happy Hamrick customer for over 5 years. Same kind of sensible license as ASP, too.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
The last version I tried was 8.4 from 2008 and didn't work as well as SilverFast 6 at this time (if it even supported my scanner, which I can't remember).Dutchmm wrote:Vuescan is indeed superb! Now, with the new version, VueScan is at least as good as SilverFast 8. I'm going to try it a little more deeply and, if it happens to be that performing, I might buy it though I just upgraded to the SF 6 to 8 upgrade.
That said, back to the topic : wouldn't it be possible - and sensitive - to let the scanning software use ASP as editor ?

Vuescan has added a new feature, with version 9.1.00, the Guide Me (dumb mode with not much in the way of adjustments) is free. I believe you can still scan negs and slides in the Guide Me mode. Might be worth a shot. Will at least tell you if your scanner is supported.FalCT60 wrote:The last version I tried was 8.4 from 2008 and didn't work as well as SilverFast 6 at this time (if it even supported my scanner, which I can't remember).Dutchmm wrote:Vuescan is indeed superb! Pipeline wishes
ASP works with a fixed pipeline, even every plugin has its place in it.
I wish ASP could
1. show the pipeline,
2. allow replacement of tools (plugins) within the pipeline hierarchy and
3. allow saving those changes in "pipeline presets"
That would be cool!!!!!

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Something like the Gimp heal tool?
In AfterShotPro we have clone and heal tool, but I want something in between the two, which, like Gimp's heal tool, clones the texture of the source but preserves all or some of the target area's color and luminance etc.
This would be a great improvement to what we have now.

A brainstorming tool is surely more convenient for such a topic.
I don't know if the "ubuntu brainstorm" software has been released under GPL, but it could be the tool for it.
More convenient for us and for Corel developers, if they are trying to listen to us.

Darktable 3. Bye bye aftershot.

Filter should look for EDITED / NOT EDITED images as well
Right now the FILTER can only look for flagged/not flagged, rated/not rated and labeled/not labeled images.
That means that if I want to look for EDITED images I have to rate/flag/label them before, not everyone is doing this!
PLEASE, ASP should offer to simply look for EDITED or NOT EDITED images, no matter if they are flagged/rated/labeled!
This way one could quickly find images that have been edited (marked with the brush or resize icon on the tumbnail).

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
If no one asked for it yet.
I think that a preview of the exported images (specially the ones resized) would be nice. A preview that let choice the sharpening parameters to get the best output like in "The Gimp".
all best.

- +1 for the plugin manager which automatically updates plugins and can be used to install plugins directly from the internet

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
For me, this uploading feature is crucial. I formerly used Google Picasa for managing my photos; the main reason being its ability to upload my edited photos to Picasa Online, and to Flickr and Facebook.gjtoth wrote:I'd like to see a plugin to support FTP/uploading to a webhost (IE - Picasa, a Piwigo site, a Gallery site, etc.) and to interface with the default email client to email images. Make it so it resizes the images to the user's specs before uploading. This is a feature of DigiKam and it's great!
I'd like to be able to edit my photos (crop, exposure adjustments etc) and then be able to upload selected photos to my online sharing sites like Picasa or Facebook.
It seems that such a plugin does not currently exist
Is there any way to do this now? Is there a work-around to do this easily?
Also, does Corel plan to implement such a plugin? Or could some third-party produce such a plugin?
Regards!

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
I'm stunned in fact that Aftershot cannot handle RAW+JPEG as stacked images. This is the main reason why I bought it.MeneM wrote: [*]Handle raw's and jpegs (That are the same picture in reality) as one (Stacked or something)
[*]Integration with social media like Google plus, picasa, Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook (Corel product)
I always rename my JPEG and RAW together and expect to see them as one image (stacked). This saves an immense amount of time and for that reason, I mainly used BreezeBrowser and PhotoMechanic for years.
Also, the lack of uploaders to social media sites like Google Plus, picasa, Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook is surprising. Aftershot Pro should include (or develop) these uploaders so users can easily share the photos that we have so painstakingly edited in Aftershot. This would encourage users of applications like Picasa to purchase Aftershot when they want a new, more powerful editing application but do not want to lose the ability to manage photos uploaded to social media sites.
Has anyone heard of Corel will implement such plugins?
Best Regards!

Crucial??? Why?coolrat wrote:For me, this uploading feature is crucial.gjtoth wrote:I'd like to see a plugin to support FTP/uploading to a webhost (IE - Picasa, a Piwigo site, a Gallery site, etc.) and to interface with the default email client to email images. Create a batch queue that produces the right size and puts them in a subdirectory of the source files and then run an uploader on this. Totally trivial. That's how my images end up at SmugMug (I use a Windows Explorer Extension, just right click on the image folder and select the destination gallery).I'd like to be able to edit my photos (crop, exposure adjustments etc) and then be able to upload selected photos to my online sharing sites like Picasa or Facebook.
A plugin can not produce output, it can only perform image/metadata modifications within the processing pipeline. It seems that such a plugin does not currently exist
See above. Is there any way to do this now? Is there a work-around to do this easily?
Why provide redundant functionality in a program that is not related to the functions of the application at all? There are a bazillion dedicated uploaders and transfer utilities already available. Why cram that functionality into a raw converter? Sounds like a major waste of resources to me.
cheers

Yes, I agree with you on that, Andreas. And with the output queues we already have the facility to plug in whatever functionality we like. My blog upload and flickr upload just use this simple mechanism.afx wrote:Why provide redundant functionality in a program that is not related to the functions of the application at all? Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Thank you for your replies.
I was previously using Picasa and quite liked how it allowed me to manage a large collection, select images for basic editing, and then allow me to upload flagged files directly to social media sites. Very convenient indeed.
In a fashion similar to Picasa, Adobe Lightroom has plugins that enable direct uploading to social media sites. For quite some time, I considered buying Lightroom, but then was attracted by AfterShot's cross-platform capabilities.
You may not find an upload feature to be "crucial" but the ability to upload easily and share photos with project collaborators is important for many of us who hope for a simpler solution.
I do appreciate your suggestion to output the edited files and put them in a subdirectory of the source files. This is a good idea, but require extra steps, time and hard-drive space.
But since there is no other option available, I will also adopt that workflow.
Can anyone recommend a good uploader? Years ago I used the Firefox plugin, FireUploader.
Regards!
