@Gerard

Hi, finally I found out what the problem is:
multiple images cannot be deleted or rated at once in Standard View, if the Multi-Image-View is switched on (in the lower right corner). So if one cannot delete several pictures at once, just toggle the Multi-Image-View :)

- Integration into the ubuntu software center
seriously, get in touch with canonical. they might take a cut, but it could bring ASP to a broader user base, + automatic updates

Yes, Fuji RAF support - S2 Pro. I have 30,000 Fuji S2 Pro raw files in my system prior to moving to a Nikon 7000 and want to include them in my ASP catalogs.

I agree that metadata is severely limited at the moment. I paid my money because my trial time had run time and I'm disappointed.
Windows Explorer can tell me there are People 'tagged' in the images, but I can't access, edit or search on this data in AF.
I wanted to use People selection along with searching tags so I can find photos in my collection which is now about 40,000.

I had tagged the photos in Picasa and used utilities to get the data into the files.

There seem to be so many standards for people tagging - so many different data items used - why not open up the selection and allow more compatability between all the software?

I really miss the following:

working a lot with Batch output presets, I realized that the new files cannot be added automatically to the catalog! There should be really a checkbox in the Batch Output preset dialog like this:

[ ] add output file to catalog

followed by a menu that lets me choose in which catalog(s) the new file is to be added!
Right now I always have to go back to the File System, to look for the new files and then to add them manually... often really tiresome!!!

in case this function exists already and I only missed it, I will be glad for any advice!
Thanx

Good afternoon....

A wishlist for the catalogs:

1) De-import a directory from a catalog
(Equivalent to a macro doing: Pointing the Dir in the catalog; Ctrl A to select all thumbnails; Del with "original files" unselected; remove empty directory)

2) Possibility to have the same picture in 2 or more directories in the catalogs and/or in 2 or more catalogs
(multiple thumbnails pointing to the same physical picture)
ex: Picture DSC_02522.NEF in the catalog "Photo_2012", Dir "2012-085-17-2" and in catalog 'Birds", Dir "Green Head Duck"

If this possibility already exist, please explain me how to do it....

Best regards

Hello,

Being able to select several plugins to be installed at once would be fine too.

Works here...
Just use the usual selection mechanisms in the file open box.

Indeed... bad formulation : for each plugin, you're asked if you want to restart ASP straight after or later.
Would be best if you were only asked after the last plugin is installed.

ASP is for raw files from your camera. The makers don't care one tiny bit about scanned images. Try different software for that.
Yes, but then - tell me if I'm wrong - you get .tif (or .jpg, or whatever the software allows), but in no way RAW-like pictures. Thus, you can't modify WB, recover HL, etc.
If ASP could directly drive the scanner, it would be possible to work on the pictures at the very beginning of the process, as if they were RAW files.
OTOH, I'm not sure adding scan support into ASP, whatever the method, would be either easy or worth it. And how about exifs ?
BTW : dust removal is generally managed by the software that is sold with the scanner.

Nope.
They are already finished images on the film...
You have a LOT less latitude to work with than with a raw file.

What would be helpful is a better semi-automated color balance and a more intelligent color correction tool (check out Picture Window Pro to see how those things should be done...)

Wishful thinking...
As long as there are much more important open issues for AS, something like scanner support which is needed less and less is best left to dedicated software like VueSccan.
And how about exifs ?
Out of thin air?

Well, an IR channel can not work wonders and fails miserably on various film types.
One of the reasons I bought a stand alone license of Noise Ninja.

I meant : how will the software know, for instance, which lens was used ? As well as many others data that are very useful so the soft can automate most of the things that will have to be done manually else...

I own a Plustek 7200i scanner (which is only worth the price I paid it, no more, and with no doubt far behind a Nikon or Minolta) with SilverFast8 software... I was surprised by how good it can be at removing dust! :o

for scans, nothing comes even remotely close to vuescan IMHO. just let it create some 16bit low contrast tiffs and do your processing in ASP as you wish
