Another tiny wish I have is a better Download feature. At least kan we have an option not just "Overwrite existing output files" but also a more useful "IGNORE existing output files". I tend to keep photos on my card until I've backed up the photos on my PC. It's absolutely not useful for me to have multiple copies of my raw files. I also don't want to waste time overwriting existing files.

So many great ideas here...I wish there was a way to vote easier on each. I think there's plenty of suggestions for the program but here's a couple of my own:

-Better tablet support. Connecting the pressure output of the tablet to the intensity slider of a brush is a great start.
-more brushes. PSP has great brushes. ASP could really benefit from some of this expertise!
-delayed refreshs. When computing intensive effects are used on layers (i.e. blur effects) there is a significant delay when the regions are changed. A configurable delay would be great. example: after brushing or modifying a region, a delay of 0.5 sec before the image is refreshed with the changes. Currently brushing or modifying a region with a layer active get really laggy. Perhpas there is a more graceful way of doing this like only refreshing the area that was modified but the timer seemed the most simple to implement.

How about a community driven wiki? There's so many great ideas out there and people willing to help out it would be really cool to see what would develop from it. We can repost procedures, hints and how-tos a hundred times on a forum and someone (you're truly included) will still ask because an old, unmaintained post gets outdated with a newer update. A wiki allows for the stale history to get updated with what is most pertinent to the current releases and issues. It would be a great sandbox for users to post how-tos and guides for one another.

Duplicate detection.

Drag'n'drop between catalogues (or at lets the ability to copy from one to another...deletes can be manual and explicitly ok'd as they currently are)

Catalogues more portable and sharable over a network.

Collaboration: Multi-screen support. Displaying the preview on another screen as an option.

gphoto2 integration for built-in tethering support. Currently watched folders and a gphoto2 script can get the job done but a tighter integration would be great.

The max file resolution limit might have to get bumped. The D800 can't squeeze in and likely other manufacturers will follow suit with resolutions infringing on medium format territory.

A GREAT PROGRAM! I look forward to using it for many years to come....

cheers

Re: More complete RAW support

I would like to see a larger number of RAW formats supported, such as the PSP X4. I have a Kodak z990 that sometimes is very useful in certain jobs, but the AFP does not recognize your RAW files, which forces me to just use the PSP in these cases.

Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback and requests. Here's my wishlist for future versions:
  • Plug-in Manager: browse, download, update, re-position, remove, etc.
  • Strech by Grid: PSP has such a feature, it's fantastic.
  • Notes: I'd love to be able to write a note for a shot and attach it to a particular version.
  • Edit Summary: a quick way to summarize the changes done to any particular version.
Cheers,
CHJ

Wishlist item: Standardized XMP files... use namespaces appropriately to add ASP info to existing XMP files... don't create new ones with %Filename.%FileExtension.xmp convention... instead, look for and use/create %Filename.xmp ... warn on duplicates and only then use %Filename.%FileExtension.xmp...

My wishlist for a future version consists only of one point: I wish to have a future version now.
The highlight/sharpening bugs at the moment are most annoying.
So: when?

Having just managed to get flare circles on a number of images I realised that something from B4 (yes B4) would be really useful ....
In the heal layer .. the ability to clone either luminance or colour (as well as both, obviously).
I have a number of rather nice trees with nasty green circles over them and cloning other trees colour would be superb.
For completeness the patch luminance only would be a bonus.
It was also useful to get rid of bright red cagoules without losing a person completely :-)

Yes please more output file format support. I would like to see lossless JPEG XR instead of the heavy TIFF formats...

It would be great to have a "Watch Folder" option that would monitor folders in the catalog for new files added or existing files in the catalog deleted. It would then update the catalog accordingly. This way if you import new images into your "Pictures" folder, they will be automatically added to ASP. Is this possible for a future release?

Sure, let's support a format that works only in one platform and is prohibited to be implemented in free software!

In any case, if you really want to save in such a format, you just need to create an output queue that would save a TIFF and invoke automatically a script to convert into JPEG-XR and remove the original TIFF (assuming you can script such a thing in Windows)

I think that we need to be clear where Corel want to position PSP and AfterShotPro.
There does need to be a bridge to allow ASP to send stuff to PSP for editing. Notice I say editing.....
I think that ASP should be seen as the processor and enhancer and not an editor.

I think what is there in ASP at present needs refinement and some additional enhancement but duplication of features between PSP and ASP is not very useful.

Also since PSP is for Windows only there is a need for Corel to say that they will/will not make Linux and Mac versions.
Doing this would actually require a UI change in PSP so that the application has the same look and feel across all platforms.
Still learning after all these years!

Why not?
You forget that there are people who do not use PSP.
