My templates

Post by judyn »

Now that I've used this tool for a while, I realize that professional DVDs don't have thumbnail menus, but text menus. I'd like to put a suitable image in the background and use text menus.

I can modify the templates, it appears, but all templates are thumbnail templates. I downloaded the menu plug-in for Photo Impact and it looks like it MIGHT work with DVD MovieFactory but I can't get it to work.

Can anyone help me get rid of those thumbnails? Templates, assistance with the menu plug-in (does it work for DVD Movie Factory?), or whatever.

Thanks!

menu plug-in

I see you havn't received a reply yet. I just posted for help with using custom menus as well. I am curious though, were do you get the menu plug-in? I have PI XL.

It works, you just have to rename one of the object/layer in the UFO file to what is used in your version of DMF. There is a difference in naming conventions between DMF2, DMF3, DWS2 and DWS Express that I have determined.

The object you have to rename is the one that looks like a thumbnail of your template.

It would be nice if they modified the template plug-in to work with all their products directly rather than limiting direct use to DWS2 without modifying the file further.

Here is the page for the download. Also works in PI10.

Interesting,

Do i have to have PI or does the files still work after correction of the file name convention with DMF2, DMF3 directly ?

If you modify a menu within DMF itself, you have the option of saving it as a new template.

On the menu creation page, there is a button called customize which will allow you to use a variety of preset buttons, frames and layouts in DMF. You can also load a custom background picture of your own choosing.

Within DMF you are limited to the presets that are offered though.
