I upgraded to PaintShop Pro X4 from PSP v9.0 and I noticed images are not opened in their own separate windows anymore ??
I need the ability to open an image in its own window and drag it around the workspace --- can someone tell me how to enable this in PSPX4 ??
Thanks!

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 --- window for each image ???
Tabs have been the default mode since sometime around X3. I personally love them but for anyone who doesn't this has actually been a big point of contention with X4.
If you go to the "Window" menu and deselect "Tabbed Documents" or use one of the "tile" or "cascade" options it will bring the windows back. But the old MDI interface does not work like it used to and this has irritated a lot of users.
One issue that is buggy is that if you click from one image to the other while the crop tool is active it'll force you back into tabbed mode. And if you maximize a window it'll go back into tabbed mode as well.

I am seriouly hoping that this bug with the crop tool and the tabbed documents will be fixed...soon ????
It's VERY annoying to have work like that.

They must have fixed the Crop Tool bug with SP1 because it's not doing that for me.LeviFiction wrote:One issue that is buggy is that if you click from one image to the other while the crop tool is active it'll force you back into tabbed mode. It's been reported after SP1, so either I didn't explain the bug properly or it's yet another inconsistent bug.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 --- window for each image ???
I tried it by just having the Crop Tool active, and switching between two images, and I also tried performing a crop on one of the images and then switching to another image and I got no tabs either way. Is there a step that I'm omitting that would cause tabbing?

It's when you click on the title bar of one of the windows to switch between them. Obviously this is more common when you have many windows open at once and you can only see the title bar of another window.
So when you have the crop tool and you click on the title bar of another open window it' causes that window to be maximized and therefor for PSPX4 to go back into tabbed mode.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 --- window for each image ???
I can't make it happen. I opened about 10 pictures and clicked the title bars that were barely showing in the stack and I didn't end up in tabbed mode no matter how many times I switched from picture to picture.
OK, there's more to it than just switching from image to image with the crop tool active. I finally got it to happen. You have to have an active crop rectangle on one of the images and then click on another image's title bar. Once you've performed a crop, it doesn't switch to tabbed mode.

Most likely has to do with windows 7, when you double click the title bars they expand. Easy to accidentally double click them.LindaSue wrote:I can't make it happen.
