Menus, menus, where are the menus

Post by The Old Man »

I am a long time Pinnacle user (since S7). I've finally had it--yearly "new versions" that you have to shell out fifty to ninety bucks to purchase. It has always been a crash heavy program, but with S14 I just couldn't handle it any more. I have downloaded the trial for VS Pro IX. I know that there are complaints about buginess from some for this program--there are for all programs, but for me it's stable and I will probably purchase it later this month.

Now one thing that Pinnacle had is it's menus' for your project. I loved the look, the variety and the way you worked with them in your project. I don't understand why Corel has such a limited number and I really don't understand why you work with them when you ready to burn your disk. Can anyone enlighten me? Do you like the menus, and the way you work with them, in VS? What's good about it?

If you have only downloaded the trial version then one of the things omitted to make the download smaller is all the extra content - one part of which is the menus - the trial version is supplied with a limited number so that you can try the programme - you do not mention what format videos you will be editing - VS is currently a bit light on HD menus but I'm sure that will improve in the future - if you are using standard def video then if you purchase you will have many more plus the ones you do get will be very customisable so that you can produce hundreds of different menus.

I am not fully following your second paragraph - I assume we are talking DVD menus with navigation etc. - to me it has always seemed logical that you do not bother about a disc menu until you have finished all editing and know what your video contains and what your menu should look like, I cannot think why you would be concerned with creating a DVD menu before you know what you are putting on the disc.

I have been a VideoStudio user since version 3 and I very much like the menus and the way they work plus the customisation you can do to them - for me the programme has always been stable and I have no real complaints about it - yes there are one or two things that could be improved and a bit at a time we are getting most of those improvements with updates and upgrades. I would not have been on here so long trying to help other users if I had any concerns about VideoStudio - it works well and produces excellent results.

Thank you so much for your reply. I grew up on Pinnacle so the way they handle menu's (during editing) seemed natural to me. I guess I can adapt. Especially for stability.

Thanks again,
David
