Couple of questions

ON starting Videostudio Ultimate, it appears to think I have no connection to the internet and can't find a setting to connect to the Vimeo tutorials. Running with Firefox 9. It also gives messages about scripts on page.

HOw do I know what the current version is and if I need to update with SP1 and SP2?

You can check the version number of your VS X4 by opening the corel guide then click on the two gears then select About Corel VS X4. From there your version number should be 14.1.0.107. If it's lower than that then you are either on SP1 or no update. You can visit http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1100002 to download all updates.

Regarding your problem, I suggest that you reset your web settings and for the meantime set IE as your default browser.
