compatibility vs8 and vs9?

I have video studio 8 and am considering upgrading to video studio 9 will my files remain intact or do I need to keep both versions until I complete my current project??

Video Studio 9 will recognize version 8 project files. Videostudio is not backwards compatible so once you save the files in Videostudio 9, you can no longer open them in VS8.
